2 you are completely incorrect - I would have pegged you as someone who knows something about guns. What you call a"rifle" is called properly called a long gun or long arm. Both rifles and carbines are subsets of the long gun and are determined by the size of the barrel. A rifle being a long gun with a longer barrel a carbine being a long gun with a shorter barrel.
I'm just curious on why you would actually take the time to make an incorrect post?

Youre wrong yourself stockpicker.A carbine is a smaller example of a rifle ,length of barrel as well as lighter stock yet fires the same cartridge as the full size rifle.This doesnt apply to the M1 carbine though.The M1 carbine was made as a replacement for a sidearm for better firepower.
