Hello all,
Been a long time since I have got out and found anything. I have been too busy preparing to move this month to California. Had to go out and check out my new Home in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area. The house I was going to buy didn't meet my expectations so I found another one near the town Oceanside where I lived for 12 years while in the Marines.

Did a base hunt near a WW2 Barracks and to my surprise found an old Marine Corps ring. I cleaned it up and can make out a 1944 date and some other writting. Looks like it was worn for a while. I wonder where this guy is now? Love finding old military items. I will sure have lots of hunting places for years to come. Also found another ring with sterling inside. Also found 3 wheats from 1940's, A Canadian Saskatchiwan quarter, A midge toy airplane, plenty of clad, for first ever dog tag from a previous hunt with Terry Everly of TNET, and some kind of badge with the name the "sack" or "sak" on it. Also found a shell game coin. Don't know the age.

This will probably be my last post for a while as I am moving out and heading to California by the 1st of June. I will still stay active when I can and look forward for a new to hunt and new friends to follow. Ron Smith

I already did last week. The beaches are getting fuller by the day. Got a nice tan too. Now Ohio today is cold and rainy. On my trip back on Sunday, West Amarillo had hail, snow, wind rain all the way home. Only saw temps from Amarillo at 47 and got home Monday afternoon only 46. I saw some see's candy while there too. I'll keep you in mind in the future. Be glad to send you and your wife some. Take care. Maybe I can score a load back to NC this summer. My brother lives in Clayton

You had to mention See's Candy. I miss those Scotch Kisses caramel & marshmellow candies. Yum! ;D
I was just up in Northern Indiana last week. Rainy and cold all week until the last day. :(

Sorry, but I keep all of my finds and since I was in the Marines for nearly a decade and that the ring is old I will keep it. Thanks anyways and wish the best for your son who is serving during some difficult times for a young Marine. With 2 global conflicts going on and the turnover for Marines serving overseas is tough.
