Hello all,
Been a long time since I have got out and found anything. I have been too busy preparing to move this month to California. Had to go out and check out my new Home in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area. The house I was going to buy didn't meet my expectations so I found another one near the town Oceanside where I lived for 12 years while in the Marines.

Did a base hunt near a WW2 Barracks and to my surprise found an old Marine Corps ring. I cleaned it up and can make out a 1944 date and some other writting. Looks like it was worn for a while. I wonder where this guy is now? Love finding old military items. I will sure have lots of hunting places for years to come. Also found another ring with sterling inside. Also found 3 wheats from 1940's, A Canadian Saskatchiwan quarter, A midge toy airplane, plenty of clad, for first ever dog tag from a previous hunt with Terry Everly of TNET, and some kind of badge with the name the "sack" or "sak" on it. Also found a shell game coin. Don't know the age.

This will probably be my last post for a while as I am moving out and heading to California by the 1st of June. I will still stay active when I can and look forward for a new to hunt and new friends to follow. Ron Smith

Hey Ron thanks for chiming in on my post . I noticed that you must have relocated . Congrats on the beter weather . Nice finds would have done a back flip on that midge fighter . Love the toys . Well wont be long before your killing it out there will keep in touch Rob. :coffee2:

I love the ring!!!!

It could have been my grandfather's ring. He was a Marine during WWII, and lived in California. He loves the Marine Corp to this day.

BTW, the Sak metal tag you found is a tag from an expensive brand of women's purses. Look it up on ebay sometime.

Rings Great, Planes great! The nosel for your hose is super if it works. All ofthe new one's have low flow restricters and aren't worth a hoot. If it works use it. SEMPER FI from a northern CA Detectorist. HHHH

Hey Ron....wow, great stuff! I am going to be in Cali just north of Oceanside (Mission Viejo) in mid-July, if you're settled in by then maybe we can get together for a hunt. :hello:

PM me and I'll see what I'm doing. That's not too far from the Base as well. Thanks for the invite. Ron
