Found two really nice basalt points today, a basalt tip? maybe, and a obsidian base with a nice flint scraper (I think). Not sure about the bone, it has scratches and evidence of scraping, but I don't know if it was just animals chewing on it or what, but I found it in the same area. 2013-07-18 20.42.35.webp I'm wondering if anyone thinks this point is done, or does anyone think it was meant to be notched later? Is there an I.D. for it?2013-07-18 20.43.06.webp2013-07-18 20.43.18.webp2013-07-18 20.43.32.webp2013-07-18 20.43.26.webp These were found in the same area, think the basalt one is an oxbow too?2013-07-18 20.42.49.webp Here is what I have found from this place, all except the smallest side notched point(found when I was about 10 somewhere else..)2013-07-18 20.44.57.webp2013-07-18 20.45.23.webp Here are hundreds of core rock and flakes I have found from here as well, I plan on sorting them by size one day and putting them in a display box.2013-07-18 20.45.49.webp2013-07-18 20.46.23.webp2013-07-18 20.46.39.webp I'm also hoping to keep finding more from this site! I'm REALLY hoping I find a nice unbroken obsidian point...Thats my goal... I hope I do! thanks for looking!! P.S. Don't hold back on any I.D.s on stuff, I'm always learning! thanks again!!

Nice collection! #3 is a very nice point I really like it. Im not from your area so I cant tell you anything on your artifacts.
Now on your scrap pieces I have allot in a 5 gal bucket I have to still go through myself. I do however save the ones with secondary flaking work on them and keep them in a different area and then label them as tools. Like that nice gray one you have in the last pic its on the right. If I have no clue as to what something is I also put that one in a different place and label it as such. One day I will see it some place I am sure. You have some great pieces! Good Luck, rock

That last grey one you are talking about is also basalt, the grey part is a kind of patina. The area where this rock comes from is about 16 miles or so from this lake that I have been finding this stuff. I have also tried working a little bit of this stuff myself, I had a nice spear blade going, then messed it up lol! I need to get back there and get some more material and try again! I am really hoping to find a larger point here some time... I think it may be possible...I am going to repost this pic, in it, the large piece on the bottom is also basalt, and one side is worked. I think if it had been finished it could have made a good spear point or knife!2013-07-18 20.45.23.webp The piece to the left and up , that is almost jet black, is also basalt, and has also been worked. If I were to flip the grey piece over it would be black as well, but I dont have a pic of that right now. It is neat to be able to track down where they got the material to make these tools!

Checkout those little triangular pieces of flint. I found one and wasnt sure what it was and took it to a artifact ID session and found out it was a Woodland triangular point. Ill show it for you.

Nice Finds Jason! :icon_thumright: I like seeing those oxbow's, I don't find them that often. That basalt point looks kind of like a small Green River point if I am correct. Looks like you got a good search area.
