I hold my ground, although I bent a rule. I bought a nice cache from an elderly friend of my family's. his grandfather found all of these in 1920 while plowing behind a mule. He was plowing a garden spot when the largest banner stone rolled out. On the way back down, while making another row, the small one was found. Both were in meant condition and the garden spot was moved. Within a circle 7 foot in circumference all of what I'm about to show was found. I have drooled over these pieces my whole life and never saw them as part of my collection. My friend, who ask that I not put his name on the net is elderly and has cancer that has been in remission. He didn't say if its slipping back on him or not, but death seems heavy on his mind. These great artifacts are hard for me to enjoy knowing that a great friend and server of this country is stressed over money, health care, death and who will respect his treasures after death takes it's toll. I gave a pretty penny for this stuff but also granted permission to hunt the farm where these were found. I hope in time I'll enjoy these more. They are great!

Hey Rusty.. have you ever thought about investing in realestate?
Not trying to sound morbid but you may want to save that piece of land also.

Yes I have. Taxes are the kicker unless you have it leased. This land would go rather cheap. You gave me an idea. Land is always a sound investment, no more being made. Ahead of supply and demand!

What an honor! I am sure he feels better about you having them knowing that they will be greatly appreciated.

Nice work Rusty! Pretty amazing.

No work done here. Still nice stuff. Thanks for the compliment. I don't know where to put any such nice stuff. It's beyond what I've ever even held. We have the grounds granted us. Come down with a post hole digger next time! Lol

I'm afraid what you have here are modern reproductions. The holes are wrong & they all appear to be acid washed, at the least. If I'm wrong, I'll apologize, but I don't think there's a legitimate authenticator in the country that would verify these as real. I hope you didn't pay too much for them. If you did, at least you donated a fine sum to the needs of someone who needed funds for his illness.
Sorry!

From what all I've seen and collected here in NC, people have said natural on these forum for my some of my unusual finds too. However, once properly analyzed by the real expert some ended up being 4,000 years to 10,000 year old stones that describe the nature of work done at that time here. I didn't expect it myself but from the experience I have in the field, I'm not going out to pick up random pieces laying around. To examine NC artifacts, one must consider the natural processes that occur here. I will not go into depth with that b/c I can end up describing the whole geology of the Appalachian Mountains. I have natural landscape/geology/petrology/mineralogy books to completely cite my info. I know this person has everything under control and all measures were taken adequately. Not to mention, he actually said that it was bleached. I noticed that myself, but I will conclude with this: some of this that you think you know about, may very well be a piece of natural history. I can't freaking stand it when people try to ruin the good of what has been fulfilled. You posted a little late anyway, so why bring your opinion to the top? I think some people can be a huge :BangHead:

Including you my friend...I have my days as well..
This forum is based on opinions..if your not open to opinions from everyone here you may want to reconsider taking part in an "open" forum...and refrain from calling people :BangHead:
You sir.. even bragged about posting fake artifacts on another forum.. how'd that go over?.. you got banned froum that form correct?
How bout your thread called "unusual and crazy finds today..wow!"
Real great one there.. I figured you were going to hit the self destruct button on that one.. too bad its locked... how is it that you belive your in some position to judge the validity and timing of another members post?

Wow rusty! That is awesome! The best thing I have seen you post yet! Sorry to hear about your friend my brother! Would love to see all this in person!

Martha.jpgOkay guys, no name calling & cut the back stabbing PLEASE!!

Congrats on one great bunch of artifacts. Sorry to hear about your friend's illness.Hope he has an easy time of it till his time's up.That's all any of us can ask for now....

What I'm implying is the off the wall/uncalled for comment that Digs made & then 2 others jump in with name calling. You guys just be nice okay? What happens on other forums stays there & is not to be brought up here. Tomorrow is Father's Day, I wish y'all a great day!

You to rr! how you doing since your flooding episode?

I hope this is the last of the leveling of the levee. My yard looks disastrous. The new artifact field is not producing, so I'm letting it go back into pasture.

Fellas, thank all of you. BMartin, thanks for having my back. Gator and Jonathon are great friends of mine. I do my best to get the straight forward truth to you guys. I have no need to lie about any thing, to anyone. By that, I mean.... I think I got shidded on these banners. Yep. I said it. I am pretty sure they are bull crap fakes. Now, my sickly friend didn't mean to stick me. He got taken advantage of. Gator, remember when I asked you if the large piece looked strange? I asked that because I started reminiscing and could not recall a quartz vein in the real cache. I went the next day and ask my old friend if he had these repaired or if he had dropped one. "No" he says. Then, he got a look of concern on his face. He tells me then about six months back, he let a guy take them for a couple weeks, to make a reproduction of them for the community college. I went to the school, no display of any native tools. My friend tried to give my money back to me, I refused. It wasn't his fault. He has had his artifacts stolen, all you can call it. I got the SOB's name that stole my friend's real stuff. I went to see him. He gives me papers of authentication on these fakes, and tells me that they were brought to him for authenticating. Bull!!! If that's the case, why did my friend not get the damn papers he sought after? I got them. After reading them, I was floored. He got the whole family name wrong, story, every thing. Wrong. I reported this scumbag to a prominent NC artifact collector. He told me that he was going to notify everyone in the area about the artifaker. I figured this would make it back to T-net. I didn't rush it.... Well... Honestly, I'm embarrassed for one, the other I'm sooooo mad, I've tried to tune it out of my mind. Since I didn't pay the (wish I could call him the name I want to) man that faked them, and I refuse to let my elderly friend eat this loss, I'm stuck. However, this artifaker's reputation will sink like the Titanic, I promise this.

Oh dang. I hate that buddy! That 3 holed one looked too good to be true but I didn't wanna say anything at all, you know me. So all of them you pictured were fake? Two of them looked legit, sure fooled me if them are fake. Sorry for the argument but I felt that came too late when indeed it was very helpful. I'm sorry to whoever I opposed. I didn't do it intentionally to start something. I'm glad the advice is correct but really it's too late anyway. The harm has been done already. I learned how untruthful people can be myself here and it is sickening. Artifakers around here will actually put them in the field and say give me $20-40 and you can hunt all day. I found that out by someone who used do such things. He had some techniques that made them blend naturally too. That person told me this so that I would learn how deceptive this hobby can turn out being.

Yeah! That is a sorry dog to do something like that as well. B, you are a good dude in my book. I really wish I had of let this cat out of the bag sooner, but I didn't know how to do it without feeling like a jackass. Oh well, we all feel that way at times. Thanks for sticking up for me. I'm pretty down hearted at this point.

N.C I am sorry this happened. You always take the high road and we appreciate that. Not sure all of us would have...... River sorry you had to come in and moderate while we were away.
