Avagos Goodies

Great week. After the crummy week I just had, it's a great motivator to see the great finds you had this week. Also, it's nice to know that the silver box streaks are usually a lot longer than the skunk box streaks. A 13 box silver streak is awesome.

Did another box this week with similarly excellent results. Had one box break my silver streak at 14, and logged my first double-ender. I also pulled my oldest coin, a 1862 British Penny.

I have also decided after this week to start setting aside ender rolls to try to fill up a box and do them all at once... delayed gratification. I will still include the rolls set aside for silver streak totals and make note of it in the log.

Box 127 - 0 x 90%------2 x 40%
Box 128 - 0 x 90%-----10 x 40%
Box 129 - 0 x 90%------2 x 40%
Box 130 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
*Box 131- 2 x 90%-----16 x 40% - Best box that contained first double ender
Box 132 - 2 x 90%------8 x 40% - Pulled oldest coin to date, 1862 British One Penny
Box 133 - 3 x 90%------3 x 40% - 1973, 2012 S proofs, silver in this box was very clean and shiny
Box 134 - 0 x 90%------1 x 40%
Wkly Total: 7 x 90%----42 x 40%--=--8.74 oz.

Holy smokes! That's some serious volume--eight boxes. And silver in 7 out of 8 boxes. Nice. Box 131 matches the best box I ever had--18 silvers in a box. Great week. Did you find the old British penny with the halves? Is it the size of a half? I'd love to see a pic.

Hey Silverslug, I know the 8 boxes that I do a week pales in comparison to what some members on here do or did. Unfortunately one of my banks forgot to order my boxes for this week, so I will be operating at half-capacity, 4 boxes. I think my best box had 21 silvers and was my best overall silver score so far. I'm hoping to hit 100 oz. by the end of the year.

As for the British Penny, yes, it is exactly the same size as a US half but the rim was really thin and dark brown, presumably because of its age. Here are a couple pics:

Nice find. I have to think it's valuable. Is it your oldest ever find?

Yes, it's my oldest coin to date. From what I read they made loads of them so they're actually pretty common, even considering how old they are. You never know what you'll find in a roll though.

One pickup forgot my order this week so I was only able to get through two boxes. My shift at work just changed to 10am-7pm so that will complicate my dumping situation. I'll only have about half an hour to dump between when the banks open and when I need to head to work :/

Box 135 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
Box 136 - 0 x 90%------4 x 40%
Box 137 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
Box 138 - 3 x 90%------2 x 40% - One 1942 Walking Liberty
Wkly Total: 3 x 90%-----6 x 40%--=--1.97 oz.

Another solid week, Avago. Any week with a Walker is a good week, and the rest are just a bonus. Hopefully your new work schedule won't prevent you from dumping. Is you bank open on Saturdays?

Some decent boxes mixed in with the skunks :) hope you can work out a dumping plan with your new schedule!

I looked around and most of my dump banks are open until 1 or 2 on Saturdays, so I suppose I could get up and do a dump run then.

Here are my box totals for the week:

Box 139 - 1 x 90%------3 x 40% - 1944-S Walking Liberty
Box 140 - 0 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 141 - 0 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 142 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
Box 143 - 0 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 144 - 0 x 90%------3 x 40%
Box 145 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
Box 146 - 1 x 90%------2 x 40% - 1945-D Walking Liberty, last roll of last box
Wkly Total: 2 x 90%----11 x 40%--=--2.35 oz.

Going to have to do a little better for the rest of the month to make 100oz. on the year, but it was great to find two real nice Walkers this week.

Good luck on reaching 100 oz and nice finds on the walkers!!! Im rooting for ya  I'm on a 9 month dry spell on walkers, hopefully that ends soon!!!

No home run boxes, but only two skunks boxes out of eight is pretty good. A thirteen silver week is respectable. The 1945 Walker is a beauty. Good week overall. We're pulling for you on a 100 oz. year.

No more home run boxes this week as well, but I am continuing to inch toward 100oz. Also scored my 500th silver half on box 149.

Here are my box totals for the week:

Box 147 - 2 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 148 - 2 x 90%------3 x 40%
Box 149 - 0 x 90%------3 x 40%
Box 150 - 0 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 151 - 0 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 152 - 1 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 153 - 0 x 90%------2 x 40%
Box 154 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk of the week, ending an 8 box silver streak
Wkly Total: 5 x 90%----12 x 40%--=--3.58 oz.

I've got a 16 box order to pick up tomorrow, so I'm certainly hoping to hit the 100oz with those!

Good luck hitting 100 oz by the end of the year! How'd those 16 boxes turn out?

Thanks Zomotion! We have done 7 out of the 16 boxes and it looks like we squeaked over the 100oz mark tonight!

Box 155 - 1 x 90%------6 x 40% - 1953-D Franklin
Box 156 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
Box 157 - 1 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 158 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
Box 159 - 0 x 90%------0 x 40% - Skunk
Box 160 - 0 x 90%------1 x 40%
Box 161 - 0 x 90%------2 x 40%
Wkly Total: 2 x 90%----10 x 40%--=--2.20 oz.

We had 98.23oz in the bag, plus the 2.20oz from these boxes puts my YTD total at 100.43oz!

Thanks guys, it was a close call but I'm sure glad I made it. We were able to do a few more before the end of the year to make sure we surpassed the goal.

Alright, here are my 2014 CRH totals. I started hunting this year near the very beginning of July and continued up through the very last night of the year with the help of my lovely lady.

We ended up finding 535 silver halves that totaled 103.28 ounces worth $1620.46 today with silver spot at $15.69/oz. That's a profit of $1352.96 (subtracting FV). It isn't really about the money though as most of us know, it's just about the thrill of the hunt!

Best score: 21 silver box --> 90% - 4, 40% - 17

I also searched $919 Ikes and found no silver.

I was also lucky enough to be able to uncover my grandfather's coin collection and sort through it all. I made some friends on the site here too. Happy new year all, and here's hoping for 200oz and a dream box next year for everybody!
