You see here in America we have the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These documents give U.S. citizens RIGHTS of which are for the citizens protection from a tyrannical govt. You don't want a argument but you come onto a second amendment thread and declare guns are bad?? Wow!

Some people do not understand that the right to own guns is a right given to us by our fore fathers and written into our Constitution. They forged a country out of a wilderness and rebelled against a country that was ruling them through tyranny, they shed their blood to earn their freedoms, to ensure their descendent's never had to deal with the Tyranny they dealt with they gave us our Bill of Rights, and with in it is the right and the ability to defend ourselves if anyone ever tried to rule us through tyranny as they were ruled........

No where in the Constitution will you find the word "slave"..... Yes it is implied in several sections in the main body including the 3/5 clause....It was the only way to get the 13 colonies to accept the Constitution as a whole, to exclude it and none of the Southern states would accept it.... There was a lot of debate on the issue, it was not like it was simple choice.........

This debate is on the 2nd amendment it is not an issue of race, I have said before and I am saying it again, keep race out of it....

No one is discussing race. The post is about a right that Americans enjoyed that was then taken away by an amendment to the constitution. I think it is extremely relevant to this discussion.

Another Canuck view for what it's worth....for the most part we're fairly fortunate....for whatever reason most of the gun violence in Canada involves street gangs, domestic violence and the occasional wacko who goes postal.

Not a big whack of civilian attacks by the bad guys...maybe the odd stick up of a service station or corner store.....I guess we're lucky that way.

Actually in the US the majority of crime is in poor urban areas and even that had been declining at a good clip. Fear is big business. Whipping up people's fears is very profitable for many companies.

Thanks for the history refresher although it seems to be very one sided in my humble opinion. What bearing does any of it have to do with every US citizen being allowed to have an arsenal of heavy fully automatic weapons in their house or on their person? I'm a proud gun owner myself and am not afraid to use them to protect my family or fight off the governments boogy men. I just don't see any need for the common citizen in America to have fully automatic or semi automatics with large clips. I was not aware of the current possibility of the chance of another genocide in America. Why is there always enough money for war but not enough to feed the poor?

Just how was I attacking? By mentioning chicken? For the second time Chicken is a small town in Alaska. Should I post again to make it three times? Might I ad you are the one attacking....the second amendment.

Also records show 598 people murdered in Canada in 2011 and 554 in 2010, how many of them would still be alive if they had been armed and able to defend their selves?
