The little picture :icon_thumright: is a smiley face with a thumbs up sign. Thumbs up is a positive expression, like "you said that right" or "I agree". Just thought I would clear that up for anyone not completely familiar with the US culture......

Aquasound is a TR detector and nothing will come close in white sand to it's performance for depth and discrimination. Never have dug a bottle cap with mine will hit a dime at 16" in good white sand leaves the excal guys scratching there head as you dig up the goodies around them.

Overkill,

They are excellent in the hands of an experienced user. They are also incredibly expensive. I would NOT recommend starting off with a machine like that to learn with.

If you really want to get started with a PI machine, think about a used Sand Shark, a SeaHunter II, or a White's Dual Field then work your way up from there. Any of those machines will keep you occupied for a good long time. Heck, you might even decide that's your machine of choice for the next 10 years.

But Overkill, I've seen a lot of your posts and trust me on this, you just need to pull the trigger and buy one and get started. Once you actually start using one on a regular basis, it will start to make sense. You will figure out its strengths and weaknesses. Every single detector has them. Every single one.

I'll tell you another thing, when I bought my first machine years ago, after using it for awhile I realized I bought the wrong one. It just wasn't for me and that's ok. I figured out which one was right for me so I sold the first and bought the second. There's nothing wrong with that.

Stop driving yourself nuts. Whatever detector you buy will not be perfect. But you might grow to love it anyway.

Now, start detecting. The next post I want to see from you is a picture of your first finds. :icon_thumleft:

I can't either.

Not sure why it happened, but I just noticed this thread started and largely ended back in April.

This is TOO funny, (shaking my head) lol.
Why??
I know many have a problem with Overkill (is he even still around?), but I did a search for some info on the Aquasound, and this thread seemed to have the most info, yet still no info, if you know what I mean..
I am just puzzled that a machine supposidly so great, and so expensive, and you cant find a website or anything else on the net other than threads from boards like this and Findmall... Oh well, cant afford one now anyway..

Why! Because everything that has his name on it always turned into everyone trying to get answers for him only to find out there would be a new idea a day or two later. After reading through this again I thought it was funny how he operated.

What can I say, we're just naturally helpful people.

But I think we're hitting the limit. ;D

My point exactly, I been helped here several times. But there's a difference in asking for help and using the info given to progress and figure somethings out on your own versus constantly asking for help just because you don't want to put out a little effort to do some research or it's just easier to let someone else do the leg work.

Watching that Youtube video of that guy in Australia using one makes me suspect... C'mon, jewelry piece after jewelry piece and not even one pulltab? And each one in the first scoop?
Either that machine only finds gold/silver, the guy really knows the tones perfectly, or something is a bit fishy... Cant figure out which.. Wish I could dig more jewelry than junk.. LOL..

He's talking about a MAC 1 machine that was made in South Florida by Florida American Electronics. I still use one that has the Plus Turbo switch that really heats it up. Yes it's deep. No, It isn't a pulse, Yes the Aquasound is better. Look for MRGOLD on another forum , the maker of it. I also agree O.K. isn't!

i have one also.they are a nautilus waterproofed and nautilus metal detectors does fix them. fixed up mine good as new

It has pros and cons. I'll go with the con first, it comes with 2 coils, 1 for water and 1 for land. Interchanging is no problem but the water coil is too heavy for wet sand hunting. Tuning the detector is not real difficult but it takes a few minutes until you get used to it. Repairs can be costly. Does not work well in black sand or where there is rust and iron concentrations.
Pros, you will never dig another bottle cap or any iron, the sound will let you know immediately. Target depth and size can easily be heard and the water coil glides smothly in the water. When I first got my machine I dug 4 gold rings and no bottle caps or iron, my buddy got 37 bottle caps and some change with his Xcal so he also bought one.
