All of these stones are a coquina type stone that came from the same coastal site. They all have been altered from their natural shape..some more than others. Grinding is visible on all edges.

Seems to fit quite well

Gawd, OldDigger! You are missing artifacts if you don't see the work on those....and you should learn from this. Another example is there are several shell tools that landlocked hunters do not recognize when they see them. I'm glad they miss 'em because I don't.

Looks just like rocks to me , but you may be alwaylearing .

That's all you could come up with? Come back with better material.

We really didnt have to see 5 old rock. We knew what you meant. They are just 5 rocks and that all. OK lol

Of course they are rocks..glad you could see that...your getting better. Good. Keep practicing you'll get it.

These are rocks to..just for refference..glad I could help.that other thing in the photo is my hand just so there is no confusion. Seems the maturity level of several members of this forum has taken a dive recently..coming from me that's pretty bad. And yes CapSmith I got the refference you were making.

Pretty old ragged rocks man. Is the second one KRF?

GatorBoy, they are not used to hunting areas with hardly any good lithic material and they are not familiar with coquina or coastal FL midden material. I'm glad some people just see rocks. I took a fellow from the forums, who was from inner Texas, to some midden sites the other day. He was on vacation here. He was used to walking fields and gravel bars. When he saw all the shell he was a bit overwhelmed and said it was hard for him to see anything. I can see if some places have been disturbed recently or even if a particular shell has been moved from the last place I saw it! That's a sweet Marion and the other must be coral??? PINK! Any rock at all in/on some middens was transported there and used for something. Especially if it's shaped and worked all the way around.

I know Tom..I'm connected to my area like that too. Just got fed up. They should take things like that into account before making foolish uninformed comments.

Something I have noticed over twenty years of experience. People who chew their finger nails have issues: short temper??, jump to conclusions??, feel they know - it -all, and tend to make something out of nothing. I don't know what you have in your hand, I do know why you chew your fingers. Stress...... relax and peel your eyes back when looking what the fresh wash has given you. You, the past, the present, connected. I hope you will not miss the "point" of this post.

Ha ha ha.. OK. Psychoanalization is way too rich for this silly thread. Thanks for the input. I got your point and think you should pass it around. Good thing I don't pick my nose huh? Unsubscribing now..have a nice day guys..play nice.

These are just rocks to anyone who doesn't live in FL and who doesn't hunt the places, conditions, materials and cultures that we have. Every one of them is a tool, all found on one midden site. I am very happy that others did not "see" the artifact, just the rock. They did not see the wear/work. I did.

you should rent a table at the next artifact show so you could display those

now don't get ticked off at me......
.....i couldn't resist
(just havin' a little fun my friend)

That comment is funny. It also reminds me that some people are more into the Archaeology rather than the trinket value. Please don't think I'm being rood. I'm not. I honestly need to remember that some see things differently than I. Something ugly but more Archaeologicly significant and with alot more antiquity is worth more to me than something that looks nice. That's not the case for many.

Let's be sure to keep it civil and not insult any members..

Little ole me? ( I couldn't resist) I started this thread asking a simple question.....look at it.
