Civil war artifacts all over. This is 34"deep. It's giving me the high iron tone on 12khz and 18khz.

I'm thinking its some kind of wheel. This ground is like cement and my Sampson is having a hell of a time. Going to give it another try.

Can't tell what size it maybe, but it has the look of an anchor fluke.

If it's in a spot close to water bucket water into the whole and let it soak.
or cover it up and wait for fall rains to soften the ground.
Or put on your big guy panties, get a bigger shovel and dig that thing out.
Inquiring minds want to know!!

The ground is soft(ish) after you get through the first foot.

Here is when I first located it. Pin pointer in low mode.

Never walk away from a signal, it will haunt you later on. In all the time I have been digging I have only walked away from two signals and I regret it. Will never know what they were.

And this looks kind of interesting. Wife is on the way with the pick axe.

Keep digging!

I gotta see this, and since I'm not doing the digging I can sit here with a cold beer and cheer you on!

Don't be a tease!!! You have to finish it! We have to know. It could be anything. Good luck and pace yourself

Just curious. How far did your wife have to travel to bring you a pick axe? Mine would be willing to go approximately 100 yards to bring me one. Any further and I would be on my own.
