Hoping some one can tell me what this thing was for...It has two brass valve handles, the rest is steel, the rod is 26" long and appears to be how it was mounted. There are screw threads on the end. The clamp things on the valve end are made to clamp onto something about 1-1/2" in dia. Weird tool to be sure.

Yes Im just guessing but I would search early Ammonia refrigerant piping hangers for 3 reasons. The dateline fits, the different sized piping used together, and ferrous metal is used with Ammonia.

It definitely seems to clamp and tap into 2 different sized pipes running close together. This is how I visualize it. The red representing pipes. Its a hanger and tap for a very special application.

Are the bottom holes tapped or does it just release to the air?
No ammonia around brass....

I didnt realize it was brass. I thought it was just the handles that were brass and they appear to be screwed on.

What about steam?

Just thinking. If it was a dispenser, why would it clamp to a pipe or pipes? Does fertilizer come in pipes? Thats why I was leaning toward water, refrigeration or steam. But without any markings it will be tough.

My thought about fertilizer, some planting equipment today waters and fertilizes at the same time it's planting. and most of those applications the fertilizers are liquid mixed from dry product and held in tanks on the device used. It's done with corn and probably other crops as well ? I'm likely out in left field who knows? HH

Judging by the port size, 1/4", you wouldn't get much liquid volume though it. It was probably for gas of some sort, low pressure for sure. I'm looking to get a closer date of the thing.
The brass handles like that seem to go way back. :dontknow:

Could we see a few more pics? Are you using the Macro setting? Try a darker background. Daylight is best.

A pic with a pipe clamped in place may tell us something.

Im surprised there are no manufacturers markings. Maybe a part is missing.

It should be IDable because it doesnt appear to me a home made one-of-a-kind item and Ill bet it was patented.

Thanks. I clearly see the 2 different sized pipes and this is a clue IMO.

Here is another thought, how about a dairy relation milk can washer one pipe has detergent hot water in the other?
There's something about the ends? like something was hung from them one being solid and the slot on the other? A quick release mabey? HH

That's what the entire thing latched "with", or something "to" it. That is a clamp gizmo, you can see how it worked, that side would have had a good seal also.

Ah, I see its a latch. The patent/manufacturers numbers/marks are on the other half. The other "half" may be much larger.
