Hello All,

Shanegalang and I went out digging today with the goal of expanding our Spanish Silver empire for 2013. We succeeded in coming closer to our goal of 31 Spanish for 2013 (which would give us a total of 50 Spanish over two years).

Things started out fairly quickly as we dove into the 80 degree misty, mosquito-swarmed cane fields. On the second row, I got a signal that read a consistent 70 on the F75. I just knew it'd be a coin, and suspected a 1 Real (my last 1 Real read 72, but it was a Mexican Republic 1R). I flipped it out of the dirt, about 1 inch deep, and started yelling for Shaneglanag to come over. It was indeed a 1Real. Carolus IIII, dated 1793.

Shane didn't have to wait very long for a piece of the action. On the very same row, he got a good beep and found an 1808 Half Real in BEAUTIFUL condition right on top of the ground!!

We then hit it more, digging some flat buttons (man, that F75 can find some buttons!) and pipe stems, along with the usual musketballs and pottery. I dug a strange piece. Not sure what it is. It is small. Anyone dug anything similar?

I dug one "button" only to come home and discover that it was an IMPOSTER! :laughing9:

Oh well, I think I've dug about 3 clad coins this year. :laughing7:

I also was lucky enough to get another GREEN trade bead, and this one is LARGE! Same style and diameter as the "Russian Blue" trade beads which many seem to think came over in the late 1800s. I hate to tell folks that this site was long gone by the Civil War, so I think that date needs to be re-examined.

Here is a photo of the bead, and you can see it in situ on the video:

Here's the video, and photos of the rest of the finds:

Buck, you guys are the reale deal:notworthy:. Fantastic finds without a doubt and you just keep popping them up. The tread bead is beautifull and would be my pick for find of the day.
