I used all your hints and some mathmatics and some luck to get it down to being about 99.99% sure I guessed right.

I just didn't post any of it. ;D

Once again, great game Doug. I'm already thinking of ways to pay it forward. :angel4:

Congrats to all the winners and a big thank you to Doug for a fun contest.

 RR

Huh? I have yet to see a contest that was advertised to run to a certain date end prior to that date! :icon_scratch:

With Rachel's prom this weekend and having to make sure all our guest are accommodated, the decorations are set up (probably about 6 hrs) and then the tear down at 4 am...I was counting on having until Friday. Guess it doesn't matter as I already have some NC relics, silver and LCs.....

In all honesty my guess was going to be a simple 1944 x 20 = 38880.

Doug - My son's prom only cost me $130. My daughter's is in excess of $270. What gives? ::) ;D

yes I do card count **** how did you know? ;D---- probibilty mathmatics are a hobby of mine. --- with the wheat cent run from 1909 to 1958 (add them together and divide by two to get the mid range date)--- the adverage mid date range is --1933 1/2 by 20 coins -- 38,670 -- would be a adverage range * --- with higher dates being more commonly found normally than lower ones (due to numbers made) one would expect the total to be a bit higher than that. however with the (2) hints modern miner gave --- the math became easy indeed --- his 2nd hit gave a "range" of 38,180 to 38,700 * (note the mid range number is 38,670 * )--- the first hnit said that one of the first 11 picks was only --15 "off" --- running the 11 picks thru the "range filter" hint --only 4 of the 11 guesses "fit" --- so it was either 15 above or 15 below one of those 4 numbers --- so only 8 possibles. --- with the adverage range and older coins being more common -- I thought that 38,681 was a strong possiblity . but since it was taken I took 38,651 instead --- sorry for the scare there MM.---and thanks for the contest.-- Ivan

however I did not post my work about the numbers until after some one else put the 8 "possible" numbersonline --- since being nice I didn't want modern miner to get "pounded" by folks guessing only from those 8 numbers and breaking the "bank"-- I did PM him telling him the 8 number "spread" however and how I figgered it out.

There's always a whiner out there, and I guess this time it's you Bob. :tongue3: ;D Sorry you missed it. I was wondering where you were.
The reason that Rachel's prom cost you more than Nate's is because Nate didn't have to get his hair and nails done, or buy a new dress. ;D
Mike didn't go to the prom, but Sarah made sure SHE spent not only the $ for her prom, but also what was not spent at Mike's. ;D
Kids! When are they going to get out of the house so I can have some peace & quiet? :icon_scratch: :tongue3:
Have a great weekend,
Doug
