Well here it is.
After a lot of pressure from lots of folks who asked about the photo in my avatar.
I found this in 91 or 92.

This is a cache I found while working around the back side of the original homestead house on our property here.
It isn't anywhere near as old as the house,
but it is in a direct line of sight from where the main Kitchen window was in the second farm house built in 1901.

This fruit jar had coins that date from 1916 to 1942
Also a couple seated halves, 1843 and 1858.

The rest were all SLQs, Washingtons, Walkers and LOTS of Mercury Dimes.
There were only 5 Barbers in the group.

Yes I have hit the whole place with a detector and it payed off .
I was able to pick up several other caches similar to this one that I haven't even photographed yet.

Most were newer than this although one was much older. It was also much smaller.
All were in the same type jar .

Um.....Mr. Cool.....ah I mean Thom. There's several other caches that you haven't photographed yet??

Take some pictures, Thom, and feed us the eye candy! We're hungry! ;D ::) :P

YES, YES, more pictures please?

I know what you mean about junk and trash, you know it's there but what lies above is a chore! :D

Great finds and story, I love it!

I will be glad to post more pix when I have time.
Right now work has me swamped.
If I get any spare time I will be on site with my partner sorting out our 300 year old mystery.
Before it gets to hot to do anything.
after that I will have time for more quiet indoor persuits,
like photographing coins.
Sorry guys, I will get it done.
When more important things are taken care of.

Thanks for understanding,

Thom

Couldn't have happened to a better guy. Congratulations you "old dog"

Good to see you posting Drift,
Thanks for looking The jar was right under the window of the old homestead's basement.

Kim.
I know and it makes me wish all the more that I didn't have such a huge case of cabin fever.
LOL.
Too much work and not enough play...
Late to bed and early to rise...
Is making me baggy under my eyes.
LOL

Thanks Df,
Believe it or not I didn't even get into it until a few days later.
I was too busy working a Swedish backhoe, (shovel) .
The water line was top priority at the time.

But in places in my house you can still see the foot prints up by the ceiling.

LOL

Nice cache Thom, good to see others having some luck...hope you find many more! :icon_sunny:

Hi Red,

Anymore if I leave the main upper place and head anywhere on the property there is a flock of family following me to see what I am up to. LOL
so every once in a while I'll grab the poacher's shovel and head up the old fence line where I have a couple fishing poles stashed and leave the shovel and pick up a pole.
Kind of funny to watch but it gives me such a chuckle one day they won't be there and I will do some more digging.

But until then I can always keep em guessing.

LOL
Thom

Thanks Jarhead,

Thought it would be in worse shape when I opened it,
but even broken the lid kept the water and dirt out.
As you can see only a very few of the coins took on any color or tarnish.
I have a new camera and should now be able to get some closer shots of this stuff.

Thom

Jarhead... Sempre Fi
