E-trac, Excalibur, XP Deus, & CTX 3030.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Last night I received a text from Brooklyn Digger, (Jay). He invited me to join him in a search for a lost silver ring. I jumped on it.
Jay picked me up this morning at 8:30. We traveled north to Yonkers. Yonkers is the 4th largest city in New York State and is located just north of The Bronx.
Recently we got hit with a northeaster that dumped 10 to 12 inches of snow on the area.
While shoveling her sidewalk, a young lady named Sofia lost her ring. Sofia explained to me that while shoveling, she would periodically remove her gloves to adjust her headphones. She believed that during one of these headphone adjustments,, she lost her ring.
Jay and I went to work. There were snow piles alongside the curb, the front lawn, the driveway, and the side of the house. We were getting signals from the aluminum siding, the parked cars, and even some mesh that was in the little lawn area in the front of the house. Then there was the overhead electrical wiring that was causing a little interference.
I was using the DEUS and Jay started the hunt with his AT GOLD. Eventually, Brooklyn Digger would switch over to the CTX 3030 with the sniper coil.
While searching the side lawn, I heard a little screech. I turned and saw Jay holding up a Silver Ring in front of Sofia. I grabbed my camera from my belt pouch and took a few pictures. This lady was one happy camper.
Sofia offered to run to the bank to get us something for a reward. Not our style. She just couldn't believe that we didn't want anything for our service. Jay suggested that if she really wanted to "pay it forward," she could donate something to a charity of her choice. Leaving her with a really positive image of a great hobby and the people that enjoy it, is reward enough for me.
Both Jay and I rode back to the city feeling pretty good about a successful recovery.

It was at this point that I was expecting you to go on to tell of how you'd lost everything, your car, your equipment, your clothes, etc. etc. and barely escaped with your life! ( WHEW!)

I'm glad it all turned out for good! Glad you're a member of this hobby!

Good job!

Thanks for posting this , Against The Wind. Was great having a chance to swing a coil and make someone's day while we wait for the snow to melt.
Your experience and questioning got us the results. That ring was not anywhere where she thought it was!
