An Elk, What is it?

I found this near an 1800's home with CW relics nearby. its copper on the front but iron on the back. its about 1.5"L x 1.5"W.
Any ideas?

I agree with the others. Its a horse item representing the European Red Deer or Red Stag that is so often depicted on hunting items and livery buttons.
