Thanks DaveI guess my original thought of it being c1917 are a tad off from mid-Victorian Period.
Nice find buddy If anything... this is just the tip of the iceberg of finds from that site.
Dave
I saw the numbers on the back in the pic you sent me yesterday.
I thought either March 1 or Jan. 3 1917... of course it could be 1817.
Thanks Tommy, it's nice to hear that we haven't cornered the market on those blood suckers. (One of many different things it seems)Thats a cool seal and in awesome condition. Nice hunt.......Tommy Sqeeters are here also and Hungry lol
Seen it on quite a few but not all, so it makes me think its to do with yardage left. ie something to do with length after some has been taken?I think it reads 31/17 which refers to the material & weight (I'm trying to find out exactly) Falling down the rabbit hole of information.
Flying Vampires LOLThanks Tommy, it's nice to hear that we haven't cornered the market on those blood suckers. (One of many different things it seems)

I believe the top number is the order number and the lower number is the yards requested; as shown here:'
Cloth Seal, Clothier's Seal, Wakefield, Josh & Rich Burrell
Cru: good call on the cloth seal.

Iowa Dale
Just thinking about how to preserve the piece?
Just don't cut it, burn it, or shoot it. Put it in a display case and the odd time take it out and suck on it a while, but apart from that you don't have to do anything.
I wasn't thinking of straightening it. I was more concerned with the fractured centre part coming apart.
Display case?
In strorage.
