I found my 3rd American Musketball today. My 8th overall. It was a nice rain day in the high 30's it took me an hour to wash all the mud off the gear.

The first pic is the actual plug with the musketball I popped out with my screwdriver.

The last pic are all my finds from the last month.

Nice hunt! It still makes me smile when I find one. This past week, that and some type old valve part were all I had from a couple hours in the tall corn stubble, but I still considered it a good hunt, lol. That's how much I like finding them!

Nice find.

Worth the mud

Congrats!
I found my first one this year! Now the grandson wants one too, so I have to find another one.
It amazing when you hold one of those and see how heavy they are and realize our ancestors were carrying around a lot of heavy stuff while they were fighting or hunting.

The thing that amazes me with the really old ones are how much they look like a rock with the white patina. I wonder how many I never even gave a second glance to before I started detecting.
