Went out this morning at daylight with my buddy Jeff, to a new spot, an antebellum plantation dating back to the late 1700s.
Long story short it seemed that we were late getting there as finds were deep & few & far between. First keeper a flat button @ 8", next keeper a nice brass shoe buckle @ 3-4", then I hit on a signal 82-83 VDI @ 10" I barely could hear it. Took out a nice plug & dug deep and plop it fell out of the hole into the dirt pile. I knew that it was a large cent as I was laughing at my buddy Jeff as he has yet to find 1. Scraped off some of the dirt as to get a date and all at once 1794 came out. Holy sh%@ speechless. :o

Here are some photos of the penny after being cleaned by a coin master since the corrosion has enter the planchet some the best that htis coin will grade is high VG (maybe better with just details) but it represents so much history for me that I will either leave it on my wall or donate to the county historical museum

I think that the thick cap cents are my favorite also, I think that the lettering on the edge is awesome
