Almost hit by a TRAIN!

We went out Ghost Towning here today in Iowa and FOUND a great Ghost/Semi-Ghost. Only about 30 residents if that left in this town. There are more abandoned buildings than there are occupied ones. It was great. I even got to metal detect for about 15 minutes but my son had to pea and we left. I will be back!

The town even had a great little old park behind the still working post office. Great old ball field and a SCHOOL that is still standing but so CLOSED!!

I am so excited because this is the best ghost I have ever run across in Central Iowa!!!

OH.... I almost got hit by a train.....

I stayed on the beach and on the gravel around the playground equipment. County parks I will hunt playgrounds but not state parks because of the rule book. It was probably late March or April when I was there. I did a lot of metal detecting early this spring as soon as the frost started going out of the ground.

oops. i hunted a state park one day and pulled up 5 cents guess im not doin that again. I am gonna start hunting beaches now. I will also contact abate of iowa to see if i can hunt there.

My fiancé thinks that this where her grandparents went to school
Her family has been that area for generations.

RAINED OUT!


Went ghost town hunting. Found one really good semi-ghost complete with 1 room school house and all. Probably about 30 residents. A few abandoned houses. Good Stuff! Added it to the list of future detecting sites.

Also found a great small town. 100 or so residents. Detected the park for about 15 minutes while the rain let up. Found 1 dime, 1 penny, and a pewter childs ring with a dragon and skull on it. Was a great time.

Will try to get to the site next weekend!

I also am from iowa and just got into MDing. I am about 30 minutes away from Algona. I have been mding for about 4 months and have alot to learn about my DFX so if you have any advice please feel free to give it.
