We went out Ghost Towning here today in Iowa and FOUND a great Ghost/Semi-Ghost. Only about 30 residents if that left in this town. There are more abandoned buildings than there are occupied ones. It was great. I even got to metal detect for about 15 minutes but my son had to pea and we left. I will be back!

The town even had a great little old park behind the still working post office. Great old ball field and a SCHOOL that is still standing but so CLOSED!!

I am so excited because this is the best ghost I have ever run across in Central Iowa!!!

OH.... I almost got hit by a train.....

Enjoy the pics.

Pics of the school basement and the front door of the old house next to it. The old house next to it is falling in on itself. I threw in the picture of the outside wall of the school so you could guage how large it is.

Looks like heaven to me! Hope you get back there soon, nice pics too! And stay off the tracks please! ;D

LOL AP. The train was actually stopped. It was a great picture though. I cant wait to get back there. There are so many place to MD. I already have permision from a house owner next to the school to MD on his land. I put in a request to a guy that owns the school land as well as several other properties in the town. It is a great area. The park they have there is really old, as is the baseball diamond, and best I can tell from the tax assessor web site is that all the houses exept 1 is pre 1932. Wish me luck!

AarreMaanAlla, get out there and get busy. Find some good stuff on your 3 days of free time. I will post pics when I actually get back there. It is a 50 minute drive and I work 10am to 9pm daily so it will probably be a while but I will be back.

Hey Iowa, I'll wish you much luck but I realy dont think you'll need it! You've got a dream site there, I cant get the pics of that school out of my head! I see buckets full of silver coins, relics, cool old bottles, the possibilities are endless! I bet that park will hold lots of silver & jewelry too! I cant wait for an update & pics................Good luck!!! ;)

Looks like a great place to me. I hope you get back there soon. The pics are great. Let us know what you and your son find.

Man that looks like a good site. I've done some hunting in your part of the state.
There are a lot of ghost towns in the northern part of the state too. Many are nothing more than corn or bean fields now. I usually hit those in spring and fall. Looking forward to some good finds.
By the way, I wouldn't recommend using a timed exposure setting when photographing a fast approaching train. LOL!

If I get the permision from all the people that I am trying to get the permision from...then....yes! We will see what happens.... and isn't Iowa a bit far for you?
