I found this spoon on a construction job site near Downtown San Antonio, Texas.

I will like to know more about it. I don't think it is silver and is not heavy at all.

Remember The Alamo and Davy Crockett too! :icon_thumright::icon_thumright:

Time hasn't been kind to this spoon. Could be copper or brass. Still a nice old find.

It loks like but I dont think so! Lol.

Acctually, it was couple of feets down the ground.
I already check if it has any letter, name, or number and I dont see anything.
Im thinking is from early 1900s. But dont know

I have found three of those spoons this last week. Two say Nickel Silver on the back and one says German Silver. Translation, not a speck of silver in any of them.

And I do believe they are from the early 1900's. Mine have all been found underwater at a very old swim area.

On what city did you found them?
Looks that are same as the one that I found but obviously in a better good shape.
Thanks

Mine were all found in the Detroit River in 8' of water in the center of Detroit. Can you read anything on the back of yours?

No, I can read anything at all. I was looking on google and I found these items that I think are replicas and supposedly the name of the company that made them was Roger & Bro and is Tea Spoon from 1800s - 1840s

here is a link of a antique online store - but like I said, I think all this are replicas

They are a rather common fiddle-back spoons .. design-wise at any rate. German Silver and (aka nickle silver and hotel silver)is an alloy of nickel and silver, first developed in the 1800's.

Close, just no silver in it unless it was plated. The usual formulation is 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc.

Yup -- my bad! I had silver on the brain....more:coffee2:please!

lol Coffee? One of my favorite cartoons! Getting off subject a little.

Now back to our normal spoon discussion!
