I finally felt like posting after a couple month hiatus. I've been out detecting quite a bit but I don't post all my finds. This weekend I hunted an old home site that dates back to the 1800's and it was 2 miles from my house.

What is it? I'm pretty sure it's silver. It's roughly the size of a quarter.

A random insulator, no mark visible

Other than that I found some other random junk, 1950D wheatie, and 5 cents in clad. Good luck out there!

Cool finds! Yes I would add the map to your display too.

Love the Kennywood Park topper. Brings back memories for me. My ex and I went on our second date there many moons ago. Also remember tubing down a big hill across the street with friends one winter. The hill is long gone ...additional parking for the park. If I would have been into the hobby back then, I would have hit the big hill for sure.

Where in Pittsburgh are you from. I hunt my mothers yard every time I visit.

How long ago was that? That hill probably has a ton of buried keepers under all that parking, lost forever. I always liked Kennywood more before current ownership took over. I originally grew up in Mount Oliver but I live in Crafton now. What about you?

Lid to a snuff box?
That Ford plate is awesome.
Yeah that insulator is really weathered. I have found them that look like they were sand blasted smooth.
That lock is epic.
Is that Kennywood a license plate overlay?
Great finds

Thanks for the input, everyone on tnet has been very helpful. I couldn't figure all of this out on my own, I appreciate it.

Yeah I found 6 insulators this year (3 glass and 3 porcelain) but the one on this post is the only one I found without a visible marking. It was still connected to the bracket when I found it near the tracks. I put in about 9 hours at this site. Not many bottles to be found there either which surprised me.

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:

What a hunt you had!
I like all the keepers you pulled but that buckle with the owners name on it is something else!
Probably a once in a lifetime find for sure...
Congrats!

The silver buckle is beautiful. You had,a great hunt there.

I haven't lived in PA in a long time. Flew south to escape shoveling snow.

Used to go to Mt. Oliver to meet a friend for the best Gyros ever. And good ole Crafton... I had an apartment there not far from the Thorn' bridge. Always visit the Rocks every time I come up to get Pirogies. (not sure I spelt that right) Made fresh and so good. And before I leave I have to go to the shopping center to the "Big Bird" to get several pounds of Isleys chipped ham to bring home. I don't miss the snow and ice but obviously miss the food. Getting tired of the staple of grits or rice and almost everything fried.

Grew up near Riverview Park. Have that park in mind to hunt one day but don't know the laws for public parks.

I remember that Kennywood hill in the late 80s or maybe early 90s. I don't know when they actually took out that hill. I had left PA by then and hadn't been by the park again 'til 2012 when I noticed it gone.

Never hunted PA. except for private property. What are the laws?
