I hit my 1880s farmhouse permission a couple times this week. My best find was probably this 1864 two cents coin. While by no means a rare coin, I love the unusual denomination and the Civil War era date. Also found a nice 1900 Barber dime. It only sounded a high tone in one direction, so I wasn't expecting much - glad I dug it! The last item of interest is this unidentified piece of metal. It looks reminiscent of the metal and markings you would see on an 18th or early 19th century crotal bell. I have no idea what it is or what it was part of, though it looks oddly familiar. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks for checking out my post. Happy hunting!
