a little update on ammo availability

The last 2 gunshows I've been to, the dealers were asking 75 on up for 500 rds. of .22 . It's been hard to find anywhere else around here. I went to several stores this morning and no one had any. Then I walked into a pawnshop at random and there on the shelf was 6 bricks of .22. I bought 3 for 30 apiece and one was 35.

Yeah deep, I just got a crossbow, 150 lb with red dot scope.

Packer, are the laws for crossbow hunting the same as bow hunting or are they diff. A long time ago when I looked into it I thought hunting with a crossbow was illegal in MA? Didnt know if it was worth looking into again?

In Mass you can hunt with a crossbow if you have a permanent handicap.

Thanks so it hasnt really changed. Only if you are permanently handicapped? Yikes, that doesn't help me much. Red any idea the reason for the restriction? Does it not have enough pull to kill an animal effectively? It's too bad, I have deer galore in my backyard I'd like to cull. We also get a ton of turkey.

Your permanent disability has to effect your abilities to draw a conventional re curve or compound bow.A decent crossbow has more than enough power to down a deer.Limits on the pound pull ,for deer, with a conventional bow is a 45 pound pull.Ive seen crossbows with a 200 pound pull.Ive always wondered about the restriction on a crossbow hunting myself. On this one I have no idea.I'll have to look it up.

In cal you can hunt with a crossbow during gun season. It can't be used during archery season.
