Hi all i have a little story n a few ?s to ask frist the story

My uncle-inlaw called today n told me he as a junkyard (a friends i guess) that i could go to n take whatever i wanted for scrap but there is a catch not only will i get the scrap (steel mainly but some alum, possible copper to) but i have to help get rid of some (alot) of tires with n without rims. He saids i could easily make anywhere from $200 to a $1000 a week from the scrap steel they have there. Of couse i will not take his word for it (not that hes not trustworthy) but i would like to talk to the junkyard owner n make sure its alright with him frist. I think the next time i go out to his place (uncles) ill have him take me to the junkyard n see what the owner says. If its like he says i can be a very happy man for a while.

now my question r does anyone know of any places that buys or takes scrap tires in southeast michigan around macomb country?

I don't know about Michigan but most places charge you to recycle tires. Sounds like the owner of the junk yard wants you to take the money you make from the scrap (which might not be as much as you think) and use it to pay for the removal of the tires, which could result in you doing a lot of work for nothing.

Thanks Farmercal thats what i thought but i worte couple companys to see what they say but they havent answer yet. yea thats what i was thinking too (using me to get rid of the tires) but i wasnt plan on spending any of my money on getting rid of the tires.

Here is an option you might not have thought of. If the cars still have the catalytic converters, it might be worth the time and money to scrap the tires to get those, since metal recycling yards with pay $40 - $100 for those, depending on which ones.

I have heard that some places take them, and grind them up. They use it for those rubbermats like on school playgrounds and stuff. I live in Kansas and around here there are some places that burn them, I think thts illegal, but they do it.
