l.cutler said:No offense, just curious. How can you tell it is a 1749? A photo of the date side is not posted. The older head version was made from 1740 to 1754. The central device would have been made using a master hub with the lettering hand punched into each die individually. With dies wearing out and being replaced, hundreds if not thousands of individual dies would have been used in those 15 years. With that many dies and the coin in that condition it would be difficult to attribute it to a particular die used in one year. While colonial coins are my area of interest, I don't have extensive knowledge of British coins, are there identifying factors to attribute it to 1749? I need to brush up on British coins, thanks.
