A Killer Day That Started Slow but Exploded in the End!

The day started out with my dad and I heading out to this spot we got permission to hit. The house was built in 1804 and the owner told us when he was replacing his windowsills he found a 1796 Draped Bust large cent under it! How crazy is that?!? Anyways, when we first got there we went to the backyard because the owner said there used to be an old building back there so we thought we would check that out. Not much there so we headed up to the front yard. It seemed as if most of the yard had been filled in. EXCEPT this small area of the side yard. I at this time being discouraged was sitting in my car getting some water after not finding anything for 2 hours straight until we talked to the owner for a bit and after that I felt like I would give the little side of the yard with my dad a try. Well to say the least it was crazy. I believe it was my first hole, a high 70's - low 80's on the ATPro. I dug down and was pulling out the dirt all the way at the bottom of the hole at nine inches deep I then saw a small round disk. I thought it was a flat button because it was so small. Well I pulled it out of the hole and lone behold guys I pushed the dirt of with my thumb and BOOM! The detail exploded and I could see it was a 1832 Classic Head Half Cent!!! I knew exactly what it was when I realized it was a coin. My second ever half cent and the second this year! I had an absolutely awesome day out and found a handful of other relics too! Also, let me say thanks to Isaac for pointing out to me that only 51,000 of them were minted! My rarest coin to date and I am so ecstatic to have found it. It was hit by either maybe a wagon or plow a long time ago but the gorgeous details makes up for it to me!

P.S. Sorry for the pictures being sideways, still not sure on how to fix that.

Keep on Swinging Everyone!

Awesome half cent :icon_thumleft:

Nice Half Cent, looks like it great detail. Congrats on getting your rarest one today. Often the builders would put a penny or two under sills for good luck when building the homes.

Beautiful half cent recovery! Congratulations:occasion14:

That's a great find. It would make the 2 hours of no finds well worth it.

That's a pretty special find - American Half Cents are a tough find (kinda like Flying Eagle cents , or Draped Bust coppers )

THE VICTORIAN BROOCH IS NICE ....

BAM, Great dig on the half cent. :headbang: Cloud nine baby...

Did your dad pull anything? Great find!
