Maybe not...? Little story: Both me and my neighbor have telescopes (not spotting scopes) trained on a mountain hillside acrossed the river that we watch. His vantage is a little higher and different from my vantage. If one of us sees something on side the hill we'll call each other and say "look up at the mountain at such and such a spot for elk, bear, etc. One day we watched a grizz munching on berries minding his own business and a smaller blackie trotted right down to the grizz and ran him off and took over that particular berry patch.....

Must have eaten a lot of salmon and had natives for dessert or vice versa.

The real problem was killing a deer far away from camp. The deer had to be shouldered and carried back which made for a delicious target for the Grizzly.
