There must have been something there before the CW.
At two of my CW detecting spots one 1830's house & one 1930's house) I've dug a late 1700's Spanish silver and a 1812 artillery button. My NC CW buckle was found at an early 1900's house. You just never know what was there before.
As far as the Spanish silver in the field at my 1830's house (you know the one), I was able to find a map that showed a family there back in the mid-1700's so that explained it.

Very nice find, and in great shape also, here is the NY artillery button i found last year, I believe they date to the Indian wars, early to mid 1800s.
