thanks everyone for your comments... there has been a drought here for almost 3 months now I havnt been able to detect that spot since a few days after we found the gold coin, Im hoping fall comes quickly so I can get back to that spot. I've detected 1 time in 2 months now and im going crazy :) hh all jd

Man, I would be digging that site day and night rain, sleet, sun or snow. Get back there and get that gold before someone else dose.

Looks to still have the 'original' mint 'luster', even after being buried/mixed in the dirt, and a rusted tin for all those yrs.

almost like it was never in the ground!

boy I wish the coin dealers were as optimistic as the good people of this forum are :), I was told because of the ding on the face, and the tip of the 1 has a small ding on it, and all the surface scratches on the coin, that its only worth bullion value from a local coin dealer.
I wish I had some of your guys ratings for it!! jd

If it was mine I wouldn't want to sell it but if you do, put it on ebay with a minimum bid. Coin dealers will try to buy it sight unseen figuring you don't know jack. JIM
