A Directly Connecting Piece Of Validation?

That is briefly referenced in "One Letter, One Enclosure-Subject: The Beale Treasure"-
"And to a great extent the Buford children were responsible for the pamphlet being withdrawn from further sale after its distribution in April, 1885".

"I was at the Battle of Gettysburg, and out of 432 men, lost all but 96".- CSA LT Col Vincent A Witcher

* UNRELATED FOOTNOTE: At that battle Witcher's 34th Virginian Battalion engaged the Union New Jersey 1st, my great grandfather was 1st SGT, 10th Regiment New Jersey Volunteers attached to the 1st at Gettysburg.

William Witcher was the Bedford county Justice of the Peace before the Revolutionary War was another reason for his mention in the Beale Papers, though, having died in 1803, he would NOT have been a guest of Morriss, and doubtful a devoted friend being that Robert Morriss and Sarah Mitchell Morriss were married in 1803 and still living in Loudoun county, Virginia.

How can you be so sure of the individuals in question as RM never mentioned their first names? Sounds like you are trying to force a solve against the solve of the Beale Papers?

Franklin, all of those names, Clay, Coles, Witcher, Jackson, and Chief Justice Marshall were "namedropped" to create credibility of Morriss's unfolding story related by the "unknown author", and would be recognized by potential buyers in 1885 Lynchburg.
Apart from that, that list of names offers nothing else to the Beale story.

True but without the first name you are only guessing like everyone else. Trying to make something fit that is not there.

These surnames all were well known AND were contemporary with that time period of Beale's alleged stay, another example of just enough plausible information to foster belief as the story enfolds.
Have you ever wondered why the names Otey, Lefwich, and Saunders were not listed instead, names of people that Robert Morris actually new?
The ONLY purpose that this list of names serves is to create credibility for the character "Robert Morriss" AND the "story" he reveals to the "unknown author". Nothing More.

Remember, the Beale Papers were written for an 1885 Lynchburg audience, who would KNOW the first names of the prominent surnames listed, and their connection to Lynchburg and Virginian history.
If it was a guess, Franklin, it would be the exact same guess that an 1885 job print pamphlet would have made, now wouldn't it?
