Nice fugio,

Farm fields are hard on coppers here in the NE. I've found them like that to. Burnt to death. That one seems to still have some detail though. Probably wouldn't clean up real well.

Congrats on an awesome find. Are you planning on trying to clean it anymore?

I just started playing around with an electrolysis system and it seems to work wonders on old crusty coins I've had around the house. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to finding and cleaning old coppers but I would think in the condition it is currently (which by the way I would take any day of the week) it would not hurt its value to try cleaning it up some more.

Congrats again.

crusty or not, thats the banner find right there!!

Great find!

Welcome to the Fugio club. ;D (Sure is a nice feeling to see those chains.) Hope your obverse turns out better than mine did. Going to H2O2 it?

Thanks for your kind words ;D. To answer you Evolution....after digging Aluminum drink can section after aluminum drink can section (fields are heavily contaminated by farmer :tard:) The SE rang out that sweet LC sound and I dug about 5 -6 inches.....I looked at the copper disc in my hand and a little shiver went down my spine as my eyes fell upon the words "WE ARE ONE" and instantly I knew I had an old US coin in my hand. I am not kidding (my buddy can back me up on this if he is watching) at exactly the same moment he found a George copper. I looked over at him and he shouted GEORGE and I shouted back FUGIO. He shouted back no George....then I walked over and showed him and said I think I have a Fugio ;D Real shame about ground conditions...on a better site this coin would be a minter.

I would like to say to you "BIG HUGE CONGRATS" partner! Yes, it was so funny that I pulled a George ll half penny at the same time I look over my partner pulled the Fugio. I thought he hollered out something other than fugio :icon_scratch: when I said I hollered out George. I am honored to be able to hold one of those coins in my hand. It was a great day for sure. I vote banner on this one :icon_sunny:

Still a Fugio great coin though CONGRATES

"A rose is a rose is a rose.."

I don't remember who said that, but a rose has no metal in it and wouldn't last near as long as 200 years underground.

Fantastic find, and thanks for another glimpse of the coppers still waiting to be found in the colonies.
