A couple of nice coins before I got the boot!!!!!

Knocked on the door of an old house today and got permission to detect from the owner then about an hour and a half later his wife pulls in and walks over and tells me to get off of her property right now!!!!! I tried to explain and she told me she didn't care and to leave now!!!!! Unfortunately I was in the middle of digging a deep quarter signal. >:# Oh well at least I made a few good finds before I got the boot. The 2 center was from the last hunt. have given up finds too - most people say they dont want anything
but giving finds can bite you in the butt too
me and a buddy made up a small ryker box with some flat buttons musketballs and some barber coins and indian heads
we had been hitting his fields for yrs and he never ask for a thing or never asked what we found
guy later said "if you are giving stuff like this to me - what else are you finding that your not telling me about"
head thought we might be finding gold nuggets on his land or a cache
we just find musketballs a lot of buttons and have gotten quite a few copper there but nothing of value
just a nice colonial spot with a lot of targets
he still lets us hit there we check in everytime we do but he always gives us this look of suspicion

That what happens when a whipped man lets the woman wear the pants! I have had that happen to me twice now, husband gives me permission and I find 3 indians in first path thru the yard and the wife comes out and asks me to leave......some husbands need to grow a set and be a real man!

Great hunt! Sounds like the woman of the house is a real.....treat. Maybe call the husband, offer him a case of beer to let you in on when she won't be home again. By the sounds of her, I'm sure the man of the house can't get enough alcohol

Too bad the lady was such a bad sport and that this had to happen to you. If I really wanted to go back and hunt that site (and I would!), the first thing I would do is write them a handwritten, sincere letter apologizing for the whole situation. Take full responsibility for everything that happened. Yes, I know the husband already gave his permission and yes, she was a jerk. If I want to get back to that yard, I must win her over. I would try to put myself in the lady's shoes, perhaps thinking that she had had a very bad day before she saw me in her yard. The letter would sound something like this:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, We only met for the first time last week when I was metal detecting at your home, and I'm afraid I left a very poor impression. I am so sorry that I put you both through this uncomfortable situation, as this was never my intention. Mrs. Johnson, it must have been quite unsettling for you to come home and find me unexpectedly in your yard. I have a passion for learning about our local history through the hobby of metal detecting, and I should have spoken with both of you before detecting in your yard. Please accept my apologies and my best wishes.

I would sign the letter and leave them my phone number. Hopefully the lady has a change of heart and they welcome me back with a phone call. If I get a call inviting a return trip, I would make sure she is home when I return and I would surprise her with some small gift ( like flowers or vegetables from my garden). Even if I do not get an invitation to return, I have tried to do right be her, and maybe in the process have made life a little easier for her husband.

I have only ever been denide or told yes then kicked by women or in one case a gay man. It is weird. Sick finds, go back again and try. I think that after she inspects her land and sees that you did a good job recovering you might be able to resume your sweet hunt!!! Good luck.

I think he may have worn the pants in the family, but they were her pants.
What a shame. I've run into a few nut jobs in the past too. My favorite was being called a "damn Yankee".
