Spent $16. First was a garnet sterling necklace. It was $5.99. It should do well!

Very nice finds! They should sell fast...Good Luck! :occasion14:

Wow you don’t see platinum found very often at a thrift store. If it says 950 make sure it’s PT 950. 950 without it is 95% silver. That being said it sure looks good to me

I hate to admit it but I have never found anything good at any thrift store.

Its marked nothing that i can see. But it holds for 18k and platinum. Diamonds test good. Not magnetic and the mark wipes away after you put acid on it. I know stainless steel will stay on the stone for the rest of your life when you try to test it with acid. I can take it to the refinery next week and have them run it through the scanner. I have another ring and it holds just the same.

You will. Unless it’s Goodwill because I hate them down here. But anywhere else, I normally find something eventually. If nothing else just ask them. Do you have any scrap gold or silver? Say you buy it. They might just pull some out. It has happened before!

I messed up. My wife took the ring and gave me her bracelet she doesnt like anymore. Traded a diamond platinum ring for a 14 K bangle. I will say our 11 year anniversary is in 20 days. If that matters. Basically she can wear it whenever, but my kids are getting older and their friends come in and out all the time so I’d rather put this in the safe then have it sit around. Who knows anymore...

Yep...I stopped showing my wife any good jewelry I find. I’ll only show her rings if they are too big for her. The last item I showed her was an 18k white gold diamond infinity pendant and necklace. She said “ That’s nice! Clean it up and I can wear it!”. Lesson learned. LOL

Beachkid, as someone who has been married 26 years trust me, the last thing you did was mess up. You made your wife happy and remember how much she puts up with for you to enjoy this hobby.

I agree!! If I find some gold or sterling for pennies on the dollar and it’s something that my wife really likes, than I’m more than happy to give it to her. I have no problem keeping some of the goodies we have found for ourselves! And for the record, this June will make 31 years for us. I picked up an antique 14k ring with a broken stone last summer for a buck or two. My wife loved the ring part so at some point in time I’ll surprise her and have it remounted with a blue topaz or a garnet.

We had a disagreement one day about her wearing a $800
Gold bracelet to a playground one time. I said if that thing falls off, we will never find it. It fell off. We never found it.

So i know shes happy and i could never pay retail for something like that ring or bracelet. Not that i ever would either. But to answer your comment, she does put up with alot of my crap. Haha.
