Hey guys, I am making a shadow box of our recent CW era camp finds for my son who will be giving a little presentation in history class at school, since they will be studying the Civil War next week. One of the bullets we found has a little hole in it near the top.(doesn't go all the way through). Why is this?

Also, what were grommets used for during that period? I assume tents, anything else?

Really? What did they think he was going to throw it at another kid? I don't think I will have a problem here, but will ask the teacher first just in case. Thanks for the heads up.

If that is the case will show everything else except bullets. :-\
I said it was an historic artifact and she said it was a bullet nonetheless and that other kids might get "excited". I said then it sounds like the "other" kids are the ones with a problem but wound up apologizing and dropped the whole issue. Can't argue with pig-headed bureaucrats.

I really hate to say it but, yeah I'd check first.

America is so stupid now......this politicaly correct crap is so far out of control, it's in the realm of absurdity! The voice of a few dictates how the many will behave?
What kind of sense does this make? America is the land of knee jerk reactions!
I believe in one of the many Obama e-mails that I had gotten, there was a last line in it that said something to the affect that, in America, the number of people that can vote, exceeds tne number of people that have jobs.........

I'm sure you don't have this problem in TX but when we were living in MD my son brought one of my minie balls to school (4th grade) for show and tell and wound up in the office. I got a dressing down from the principal.

I hear ya! Schools are turning the kids into Dumb & Dumber. They want everyone to be more peecee and more sensative to everyone else's feelings.

I teach 5th grade in Fairfax County and have been bringing in bullets (and giving some to students) for over ten years. No problems here.
