Got together this morning with Burdie, Monty, Mental Granny, and grandson to hunt some spots I've gotten permission during the winter.

The brush and thorn trees were a bit of a pain..literally. But everyone persevered and got through it. Monty worked his way through with little blood loss.

and M.G. (Evy) spent a bit of her time playing in the barn finding part of a bridle bit.

and I found an old car....probably some Bonnie and Clyde wannabe's. lol

We decided to head to another old homestead site, but didn't stay long as it was too trashy. Burdie and I had an owl fly out of the house and buzz our heads as well but didn't hear it whisper any names so think we're ok.
So off to the 3rd site which I was told was an old Indian Summer Camp. We checked with the local residents but they were a bit shy and couldn't help us. :D

So we all took off in different directions trying to locate exactly where it might be on the range. Monty and M.G. discussed some plan of action.

We found several of these little dams or something in the middle of a stream bed. Anybody know exactly what they might be? ???

Burdie had dug several targets along with some strong false signals that he couldn't locate. Might be easier if the residentual patties dry 1st.

All in all though, it was a great day to get together and hunt. Temperature was near 70 and sunny with a nice breeze (for Oklahoma...15 to 25 MPH is a nice breeze. LOL)

Had a great time with family and friends Jacob and I both found parts of tack! Jeff also found a old Coke bottle!

Then we went and had a nice lunch and stuffed ourselves!

Thanks to Stoney56 for inviting us up to hunt with him. We had a great time just BSing and playing around even if we didn't find that elusive treasure. I did find a 1916 Wheat Penny that was the oldest coin of the day. It was right in the middle of the old wagon track leading into the Indian camp grounds. I heard it on the way in but thought, "Naw, can't be", and passed it by. I decided to dig it on the way back expecting a piece of junk like I had found all day. It sure surprised me! I also found some kind of little metal tube that was flattened, no clue what it is, but it is made of copper or brass. Stoney found the little broach thing and Burdie found the rest! Of course we all found a ton of scrap iron and junque and even a little crappe'. :D We went up to an Indian casino to eat at the buffet but forgot about the time shift today and it was 3:00PM and they had cleared all the food out! So, we went back to a little gas station/ restaurant and stuffed on 4 lb. hamburgers! Well I may have exaggerated a little but they were huge and none of us could eat it all! Burdie and I were pooped out and ready for a nap and it was close to 5:00 PM (CDT) so we called it a day! Oh, Stoney and Mental Granny's grandson went along with us and I got tickled at him. The first thing he said this morning at 9:00 AM is, "Hi Jim, I'm hungry)! Then about 11:00 he was saying he was starving! Then he ate all his food at lunch, part of his granny's and part of mine! I'll bet Stoney had to feed him again before they got home! I remember when I was that age and kept the old refrig. fairly empty! Anyway, a good time was had by all and we will do it again real soon I hope. Monty

Jim you are so right when you all left for home we had a cupon for a free cone at A & W but we went straight to Brahms and go each of us a cone there! ::)

Sounds like you guy's had a great time. That is GREAT. Keep at it and maybe next time you'll hit the Elusive Treasure.

Will You ADOPT me ... :'(

Sure Nick, as long as healthy Italian food is part of the deal. Those burgers were so good but the cholesterol levels were a tad off the chart. :-X

Went home had a nap. When I woke up it was morning. That hamburger was good but the homemade beef and noodles did me in. :tongue3:
I sure had a great time yesterday the friends were great and the weather was perfect. Seemed like a lot of blood was lost glad it wasn't mine.

I was too tired to go back and get my best find. It was a 6ft plus two man saw. The blade was still in decent shape. If I get back from Mexico next week I hope we do it again soon. Thanks for the invite Jeff and Evy.

Burdie

PS I did not go in the casino WSD.

Glad you could be there Stan. Maybe by next time we'll narrow the camp area down better.
RR, wished you could have been there too.

That's a BIG BURGER!
