Hello my Friends!!

Well, I just had another awesome day at my favorite park this morning. My SE Pro coil was in prime form, helping me to find 8 silver coins ('41 Washington, '46, '48, '49 Rosies, '42(2), '44 Mercs), along with 21 wheaties. Almost every silver/wheat was down between 9-10" in hard/dry soil. I was so tired after digging in that kind of ground for 5 hours this morning. I kept cussing at the ground when I dug down to 8", and my coin was still in the bottom of my hole.:cussing: I was in good company with Curt(Bibleman) and Richard(Smitty) joining me today. Curt kept looking at me and couldn't believe when I told him I had another, and another, and another.... ::) He returned to the car twice, replacing his 1050 coil for his Sunray 12, but he didn't have the "killer" Pro 11". :icon_scratch: He told me it looks like he'll be getting one of those coils soon.

So that makes 22 straight hunts striking silver with the Pro coil in the turf. I kind of ruined my future chances at extending my streak by pulling so many silver out of my good spot today. I should have just stopped at 3 or 4, but my hunting buddies weren't letting up, and it was still only 9:30 in the morning, so I decided to continue. One of my plugs was a double silver: a merc and a rosie at 9.5". Folks, this wasn't a new hunting area...This was an area that has been pounded by me for a few weeks now(once or twice a week), along with my hunting buddies some time ago. I was finding anywhere from 1 to 3 silver, along with a few wheats on each hunt there, but nothing like today! Were the planets all aligned today or something? ;D ;D Sometimes, I can't even figure how there could have been so many deep, diggable signals still waiting to be found from a site that has been worked and re-worked many times over. :icon_scratch:

The 9th silver is a beach toasted '50 Rosie that I found in the surf last Friday at around 10", so it seems no matter where I go, I've been able to find the oldies.

I started to clean my silver coins(the one merc in the right corner), but decided to show the rest of them the way I dug them out of the ground, with just the dirt washed off this time.

Who Needs an E-Trac when you can get results with an SE/SE Pro coil combination? Save your money!! :tongue3:

Thanks for looking!
Keep the Passion High, and your coil low!!

CAPTN "SE"
Dan

That's truly impressive. Have a couple of questions. Here in southern Minnesota the old Norwegins must have been quite thrifty and careful with their coins. We have a local park that has been here for 100 years. I have yet to find even a wheat penny and I work areas very carefully. The park is quite dirty with many pull tabs. I did find this morning 41 pennies (all clad ) and two quarters but that's it.

Question #1

Any problems with the park employees running you off for using a backhoe to get those deep coins? ;D

Just kidding!

Question #2

What type of soil and what do you use for a digging tool?

Our park is all soil and clay so it isn't easy to dig plus I don't think they would like me digging down 8 plus inches in their lawn to recover treasures. I will admit that the "free hand held unit" I got from Kellyco sure helps pinpoint the objects.

Thanks, Larry!! You will like that Pro Coil. You don't need too much sensitivity. I've been able to get coins to 10" in hard/dry ground with a sens. of only 23 (manual).

Good luck. I hope you get a good streak going!!

Thanks, Terry!! Well, I've got to tell you....if you don't dig down to 9-10", you're going to be leaving those coins in the ground!! You have to be discrete about your plugging. Cut a nice, trap door plug(cut three sides, leaving one side still attached. Flip over your plug and begin removing your dirt). Leave no mess. Use a towel, or rubber mat to place your dirt on. My digger of choice is a genuine Lesche Digging tool. Strong as Hell, and its teeth will cut through small/medium sized roots.

If that's the pinpointer I think you have from KellyCo, then I've got to tell you that I found it to be waaaay to bulky, and mine broke on my 3rd trip out. The sunray inline probe is a great pinpointer, but I see you have an Excalibur for turf hunting? I don't think sunray makes pinpointers for your unit.

Good luck to you!! I know Minnesota holds some very old coins, and some of its parks are very old.

Huge Congrats Dan!!! That's some heck of a park you have there :icon_sunny:

Yeah, we don't need no stinking E-TRAC!!!! lol.. but from what I've seen, if you had the E-TRAC there would be absolutely NOTHING left in those parks you hunt, eventually. If you are finding coins from the 40's at 9-10", just think what you would find at 10 to 13". I think the E-TRAC appears to go deeper because of it's ability to lock onto weak targets. Do you have much iron or trash in these parks you hunt? If not, not much need for the E-TRAC then.

Congrats CAPTN SE!!

Keep em' coming! :headbang:

Enjoy reading your posts and awesome finds as always :hello2:
