Hello my Friends!!

Well, I just had another awesome day at my favorite park this morning. My SE Pro coil was in prime form, helping me to find 8 silver coins ('41 Washington, '46, '48, '49 Rosies, '42(2), '44 Mercs), along with 21 wheaties. Almost every silver/wheat was down between 9-10" in hard/dry soil. I was so tired after digging in that kind of ground for 5 hours this morning. I kept cussing at the ground when I dug down to 8", and my coin was still in the bottom of my hole.:cussing: I was in good company with Curt(Bibleman) and Richard(Smitty) joining me today. Curt kept looking at me and couldn't believe when I told him I had another, and another, and another.... ::) He returned to the car twice, replacing his 1050 coil for his Sunray 12, but he didn't have the "killer" Pro 11". :icon_scratch: He told me it looks like he'll be getting one of those coils soon.

So that makes 22 straight hunts striking silver with the Pro coil in the turf. I kind of ruined my future chances at extending my streak by pulling so many silver out of my good spot today. I should have just stopped at 3 or 4, but my hunting buddies weren't letting up, and it was still only 9:30 in the morning, so I decided to continue. One of my plugs was a double silver: a merc and a rosie at 9.5". Folks, this wasn't a new hunting area...This was an area that has been pounded by me for a few weeks now(once or twice a week), along with my hunting buddies some time ago. I was finding anywhere from 1 to 3 silver, along with a few wheats on each hunt there, but nothing like today! Were the planets all aligned today or something? ;D ;D Sometimes, I can't even figure how there could have been so many deep, diggable signals still waiting to be found from a site that has been worked and re-worked many times over. :icon_scratch:

The 9th silver is a beach toasted '50 Rosie that I found in the surf last Friday at around 10", so it seems no matter where I go, I've been able to find the oldies.

I started to clean my silver coins(the one merc in the right corner), but decided to show the rest of them the way I dug them out of the ground, with just the dirt washed off this time.

Who Needs an E-Trac when you can get results with an SE/SE Pro coil combination? Save your money!! :tongue3:

Thanks for looking!
Keep the Passion High, and your coil low!!

HH,
CAPTN "SE"
Dan

Thanks, Civil!!

Do you know what those blotchy, black marks on the silver are caused by? I'm thinking it is from the rotting blades of grass that stuck to the coins all these years. On some, I've seen the dry blades still stuck to them after recovering them at 9+". It's strange how the grass blades are protected by the silver from bugs/worms. I think silver is poisonous to those underground critters, so they stay clear of it. I've been pulling them out like these frequently, but you never see them, because when I get home, I usually clean them with water and baking soda. But not this time. Here's the backs of some of my silver today.

Maybe someone has a better idea than I do. It could just be the soil creating that effect on the silver (silver oxide), but I recall seeing the dry blades of grass on some of them, and the obverses show even better the blade profiles.

I have a question.. if the first 1924 merc didn't have the black marks on it, would that grade at AU? I'm still tryin to learn how to grade... That is one awesome hunt tho...

'24 merc? I didn't find a '24 merc today. Are you talking about my cleaned '42 merc? I don't know how it would grade, but those black marks are not permanent. They can be easily removed with a light baking soda/water rub. However, that will take the rest of the patina off of the coin. I've seen before and after pics of dirty silver on the NCS website cleaned, and I like their "after" photos better.

Nice digs my friend. Keep on ...keepin' on with that lethal combination. I bet there's more goodies hidin' there somewhere. I'd also bet you're the one to find 'em

That's fantastic Dan, you are finding a silver coin for every 2 to 3 wheats. You're right the pro coil is a winner. I am not quite getting to nine inches with it yet, just need more practice. WTG on a great day for you.

Thanks, Gary!! You're right. Beach toast silvers look crummy. I hate to count it as a silver find, but I still do. ;D

Thanks, Bryce!! I haven't had too many 8 silver days this year. It was a lot of fund today, but very tiring!!

Thanks, JDD!! Yep, all you need is a little more time, and if there are 9+" coins in your area, you'll eventually find them!

Yo, Kirk, my friend!! How's it going?
I saw your post yesterday, but didn't reply yet. I'll have to take another look to see if you were able to verify what you had.

Yes, today was a great day in the turf for me. Until someone can show me a signal on the E-Trac that I cannot hear on my SE/Pro coil combo, I'm not going to get one.
Thanks for your reply, and keep the passion high, my friend from PA!!

Thanks Rich!!! 114 silvers from this park for me this year!! Don't know how many wheaties. I would imagine over 550, along with 15 or so Injuns.

Good luck to you!!

Thanks, Neil!!

Yes, I'm always pleased to see a silver coin in the bottom of my plug. I had a good dose of them today!! I almost missed the second silver dime in my hole. I filled the hole, then rechecked it, and heard a faint, but high pitch tone. I dug down to the same 9+", and retrieved the merc.
