I heard an interview with a woman the other day where they asked who her favorite person was in Washington. Her response was ol' Hillary. Her reason was because Hillary is a woman. OMG! But, I guess that's how people get elected these days. Has nothing to do with leadership skills.

Austin knowing you from here I find it hard to believe you don't care about the lives of our diplomats and their staff.

We put them there for our country's benifit and we tell them we will protect them.

Every embassy is US PROPERTY, it is the same as U. S. soil, an attack on embassy property and or on diplomats is an attack on the United States.

When we send troops in harms way we have contingency plans to support them if they need it and they are military being sent in harms way, to do less for our diplomats and citizens is a travisity....

Its interesting that SIXTY embassy staffers died from 2000 to 2008, yet no one here is talking about those people, or demanding answers for why they were allowed to die. Its like the people on the right were never even were exposed to the fact they died, and certainly not on right wing media.

When you put it that way, yeah, it pisses me off that we didn't help these people. Yet, when I read non politicized accounts of what happened A) Hillary was not involved in any of the decision making regarding tactical support either during or before the attacks B) The Military command made the decision not to send more help. They did so based on the information they were given at the time about what was happening and the distance help had to travel to get on scene. it was their view that help would be too long in coming to be effective.

In the perfect 20/20 clarity of hindsight those decisions can be questioned. But, no conspiracy exists. Nor was there a malious or intentional attempt to put our people in danger. The decision to cut staff at this embassy was one made by career bureaucrats who cut staff not only in Benghazi, but embassys around the world. These bureaucrats are experts at their jobs. Which is why we employ them and why management ( Hillary) depended on their expert opinion. The Xright has nitpiked this one to death for political reasons.

If you want to blame anyone for continued embassy protective detail cuts, blame congress for sequestration.

And for as much as the right screams about spending -when you demand that govt spend less, and govt listens, that's going to come out in the wash someplace. here govt decided to cut spending at embassys that had no history of security problems. In hindsite that was a costly mistake. But the right asked for it, the right got it! Now people are dead!

To date, this is the best book I've seen on the subject:Under Fire; The Untold Story of the Attack in Benghazi by Burton & Katz (2013).

I don't buy the lies story. Did it take a while to sort out what happened? Of course it did. Little Big Horn is still being researched - and that was a while ago. Should the US Military have sent help? Of course. And help was sent - one man died who was part of team.

I believe Sec. Gates when he said those who suggest more could have been done don't understand the situation. Or the US Military.
