Hello all hope your all out swinging and digging up cool items
It's getting slow in my hunting grounds

Maybe we found everything ?

Yesterday I went on a hike and s half
I covered a lot of area finding nothing
Halfway through the day I found one coin
A toasted copper , smaller in size I thought farthing or 1-/2 cent
I no longer clean any copper in the field not even a wipe !!
I pack it in dirt and leave it alone till I'm home and prepared to " ruin it at home "
I started by removing from dirt and letting air dry. Then a side paintbrush
Sideways toothpick then a peroxide wash with paintbrush
When I was finished I had " what I think is an early liberty cap 1/2 cent
Let me know if you agree or see something I don't
I do not have a date but I think I see 179?
Thanks for looking hh gl

The two photos to the right look like a bust with liberty above it at a 90 deg. angle to the left. Could be a Liberty Cap half cent, or Draped Bust half cent also. Nice save.

It looks more like a draped bust to me. Either way, nice find!

Congrats on a nice find. I believe it is a draped bust, liberty cap would be higher on head

Awesome score Charlie, I hope you at least dug a little trash throughout the day to keep it exciting.

Well, all of my Draped bust half cents looks like a cow chewed on them. Looks like yours came from the same cow buddy. Nice early US digs.

Cheers

WTG, ECH! Looks like an old copper to me (ours are always toasted)! Congrats. -Lisa & John

Dang it, and I thought my old lady was the most awful thing I'd see today. Whoa, looks like ET took a big alien **** and hammered it into a coin! Might make good lobster bait..

Eat more Lobsta'

Welcome to t- net lol
Toasted coppers are great lobster bait.
I also use them to catch silver coins

Thanks for the I D.
I did think it was capped but I'm still happy to I d it at all

Well done Charlie! Half cents are hard to come back.

I look forward to your next post, as I suspect it will make my knees buckle.

Get it? Buckle...

Nice save and I agree on draped bust from what I can see.

It's definitely a half cent and they don't come everyday, Congrats!!
I get just enough good old coppers that the majority of the toasted ones I find don't bother me as bad.
