Hello Everyone,

I wanted to get my silver fix yesterday, and decided to go back to the area where I found the Barber Quarter last week. I met Jon(goldenapples) and Mike(ratman) for a half-day hunt. It turned out to be a great day for all of us. We each found silver coins and silver jewelry. I managed to find 4 silver coins (actually, 3 1/3). All of us tried to find the missing pieces of my Washington to no avail. Of the 23 wheats that I found, one stood out from the rest. It was a 22D. It's my first 22D that I've ever found. I did find a '22 plain last year, but it was heavily pitted. This one isn't any better. The brooch was down around 9+", and was probably gold plated at one time. I'm not sure what type of stone it has in it. Sure is gaudy. My best find of the day was the silver bracelet. It was down around 7". There's someone's initials enscribed in the inside. The design looks Egyptian to me...any thoughts? The token is a Los Angeles bus token for the Eastern Cities - "Eastern Cities Transit - city service, acquired by Southern California Rapid Transit District in 1971. It later evolved into the MTA." The coin is a 1935 Mexican 1 Centavo.

All in all, another great day, with beautiful views of the LA skyline! Although it's tiring to hunt a 45 degree slope for 5 hours, the abundance of good finds lessen the muscle aches.

Good hunting with you Jon and Mike, as always. Hope we find a little gold next week.

Thanks for looking,

Here's a video Jon took of one of my digs yesterday. I was always finding silver when he wasn't filming me, and when he did, I'd end up with a deep wheat/memorial. But this one time yesterday, I struck silver on film...Enjoy!!!

Hey Dan, another great post. Thank GA for the great video. We luv em'.
Way to go on that beautiful silver bracelet. Very neat piece. :icon_king:
I got to ask.....Why are there so many chopped up coins out there? Honestly, what is causing that?
Congrats,
Doug

Thanks, Doug!! There's so many chopped coins because the park maintenance mows the turf every week here in S. Ca. They have been doing it for over 40 years. Well watered grass need cutting once a week. The typical mower has numerous rotary blades on both sides of the driver. Many, many chances for coins to get chopped, and multiple times at that!!

Those mowers must have a lot of vaccum force! ;D
I think those chopped coins are actually very interesting finds.
Congrats again Dan.
