I headed out with my good buddies Ken Whitley, and Civil War Tin Photographer Bob Szabo yesterday to try a newly acquired land tract we obtained permission to detect earlier this week in beautiful South Carolina. A few hundred acres is hard to pin point exact 1700 home sites, but it wouldn't be the first time we went in blind searching. We started out checking the high rises in a field that looked promising, that didn't pan out like we hoped. We walked our way through the fields, and came upon another rise in an adjacent, freshly cut corn field. It wasn't long before I started hearing the chatter prevalent of iron and other trash. I received my first solid tone on the etrac using the CoilTek 12x8 All Terrain Coil, and sure enough a early 1800's cuff button. I called the guys over, and it was on! There ended up being two older home sites on opposite ends of the field. Between us we scored over 40 buttons ranging from the late 1700's to mid 1800's. Not a bad day at all. That property will keep us busy for a while.
