lol i dont think the SMHS Museum can handle what your asking lol ,we have between 2-4 computers runing at a avg of 70 hours a week now i could wall paper the whole damn place with picture by the end of expedition 3 ... are you sure they can handle that kind of data ...lol

If you haven't started your 3rd hunt yet, what in the world do you have 2-4 computers logging that much time doing? You can't share any of those pictures here for some reason?

All,

I will be making stew and garlic toast for the Rendezvous. It will be available as you come in Friday night. I would like to know how much I will need to make, so please get in touch with me if you would like to share that meal with us.

Anyone with an interest in the Lost Dutchman Mine or the Superstition Mountains should make every effort to make the event. You will all be welcome.

Hope to see you there,

Joe

Well, I've looked at it every which way over the last week and I just don't think I can make it to the rendevousz in Arizona this year. By the time I factor in plane tickets, rental car, hotel and a little spending $ I just don't think I have the funds to do it.

I don't feel too terribly bad about it as I'm in the very infancy of getting acquainted with the legends and facts of the LDM and really would have nothing to offer other than a curious ear. On the other hand, it would have been a real pleasure to have met those of you who'll be there and get a firsthand look at the desert and the Superstition Mountains - neither of which I've ever seen.

Please take plenty of photos and post them here so I get a chance to match faces with names for next year. Hopefully by then I'll be a little more versed in the LDM and will be able to follow along with the stories better.

I'll be able to plan better next year. Have fun everyone and again, make sure to take pictures and let those of us who can't make it know how it all went!

i stoped to catch my breath and set on a rock and looked up only to see what i believe is one of the most beautful places on earth . i dont care if anyone ever finds the LDM . but to go into those mts and not get the chance to set back a few mintues and just take a good look at the art of god's hand would be selfish ....if you cant get there this year ,thats just our world fighting to hold you in .... but when you see the beauty of these mt's nothing can hold that in .. they are breath takeing and even if i never find anything more then the will to seek my own dreams i have found the most valueable thing i can out there ...

many will go out there and say rocks and desert a waste land ..
i only see the art of god and mother nature at their best ....

no matter what you do in your life nothing well move your soul as much as these mt can ...

2007 Dutch Hunters Rendezvous

Tentative Schedule

Friday A.M.

Gates open at the Dons camp

A number of guests have asked for Thursday evening access. I am taking the time and effort to make sure the gates are unlocked Friday morning and earlier arrivals will have to contact me for information and availability. I have no problem opening the gates Thur night, but will need an appointment of sorts.

2PM Quarter Circle U tour

We will meet at 2PM at the Main Ramada area. The ranch is celebrating it’s 130 anniversary from when Jack Minor established it. Howard Hornick is our host and will be receiving a cattle shipment that day. We would like to have a group photo at the Boardhouse for the archives if possible. The McCullough family will be stopping by and riding out to the Ranch with us. Nancy McCullough is the daughter of Bill Barkley and Grand daughter of Tex Barkley.

6PM Author Jack San Felice at the main Ramada campfire

Having Jack out again this year is a treat. He is the author of “Treasure Trails of the Superstitions” and the excellent “When Silver Was King” as well as a number of articles published in the Superstion Mountain Journal.

Saturday A.M.

9AM Hike to Dacite cliffs mine w/ Greg Davis

This hike will take you to the lower mine area, the Indian cave, Carney springs, the pictoglyph site and the upper Dacite mines. The longer hike is more difficult and requires some climbing.

Noon short hike return

3PM Long hike return

It is suggested that participants bring head netting and flashlights for the hike.

6PM main Ramada campfire Open discussion

If you are bringing Horses please camp at the upper camp area above the amphitheatre. Lower camp areas are first come, first serve until they are full. Restrooms are available in the lower camp area for both Men and Women. Open fires only in the designated areas.

Anyone looking to have group discussions or an alternative hike throughout the weekend may post them at the main Ramada for any times that are open. We encourage everyone’s involvement and at the same time encourage you to follow through with your own plans and ideas. As with the forums most of us are a part of are run through the Dutch Hunting community, this weekend is organized and run through all our joint efforts as a whole.

As a reminder there is no water at the camp, you must bring your own and all campfires must be self contained as per the wilderness area rules and regulations. The camp has adjacent access to the Lost Dutchman, Peralta and Barks canyon trailheads.

Thanks Randy. We are looking forward to seeing you again. Some of the members here have decided to make the trip and attend the Rendezvous. Hope to shake lots of new hands as well as old ones next week. Not many replies to my food offer, but we will make enough for fifteen or sixteen people.....just in case. :)

See you there,

Joe

You too Joe! I'm very excited about meeting all these new people ;D

It is still iffy, but still possible.

Joe i would be honored to sit down and share a bite with you.
Thanks for the offer.

Randy ,
I too look forward to the whole affair.

OD,

I look forward to meeting you, as well as Cubfan, next week. I will have stew with Garlic Toast Friday night and Italian Sausage gravy with biscuits for Sat. morning. There will also be coffee and plenty of bottled water at my trailer for any who might forget.

For those of you who are "on the edge" about attending:

-----------------------------------------------------------------

All,

I recently responded to a friend's reluctance to attend this years Rendezvous with this email:

That's an interesting outlook and statement about the Dutch Hunting community. As someone who has been the target of many
"hatchet job(s)" and personal attacks for a number of years now, I think I'm in a unique position to understand your reluctance to attend.
That's one of the major reasons I started the Rendezvous.

I offered to shake everyone's hand at last year's Rendezvous and I will make the same offer this year, hoping I will receive a positive response. That is the very essence of a Rendezvous. People setting their petty wars aside and looking for common ground.

While we think we know our friends, we may miss ever seeing the side they can display when confronted with imagined or real slights by others. That often coalesces into a lifetime of hate. I hope to break that cycle between myself, Peter, and others at the Rendezvous. That will not erase the things that have passed between us, but it might help us understand how it all came to this point.

Wherever we go in this life, we will meet strong personalities with strong opinions. When two or more of them meet in the same time and space, conflicts are the usual outcome. If you look back at the history of Rendezvous' in this country, you will see that those conflicts were set aside for the good of the events.

You can either choose to be part of these historical gatherings or not. If you choose to not be there, it will be our loss.....as well as your own. Many of your friends will be there, gathered around a campfire and swapping lies. I can't imagine how you would miss it. Many of my friends will be there. There is no way I would give serious consideration to not being there with them.

Others are also on the fence about this years Rendezvous. I intend to post this message, with a few minor changes, on the LDM Forum as well as the Treasure Net Forum.

Carolyn and I look forward to seeing you there.

Take care,

Joe

All,

Over thirty people attended last years Rendezvous and I believe that number will be eclipsed this year.

Here's some pictures from last years event:
