A cording to Wikipedia link Gerald fisher 1920 was the first white's in 1950 oar master Geiger counter and Charles garret invented the bfo detector and in the 50's and 60's transmitters came out making the metal detector smaller and lighter. and so on

And there's your problem. Anybody can post anything on Wikipedia without proving or showing facts.

Wicked pedia, is like a lot of other Mom and Pop spots, everything is evolving all the time on there, and they encourage people to correct them too. Snopes is even worse, maybe because it's just too small of a Mom and Pop outfit to pay for truthful info.
