My name is Wyatt, and I'm a "beep"-a-holic.

I had an errand to run this evening.....and it was 73 degrees. I decided it wouldn't hurt to just stop at that last yard I was working for just a little while....then continue on my errand.

I'm glad I did. I hadn't been to the front of the house at all....only the back away from the house. I found the 2 quarters in the same hole by the sidewalk.....and around back I found the 41 Walker at 3 inches....I can't believe it. I was always under the impression that folks just didn't lose these things.

I have found a walking liberty half every 3 days since the 6th of this month. I swear it must be the alignment of the planets or something. I actually had every confidence that I'd found a half dollar this time. There was no doubt in my mind. The obverse was facing upward....and is much darker than the reverse.

I suck at quitting....so maybe I'll just "cut down".

Hi Kent,

Anybody could have found any of these coins (they were quite shallow). I'm lucky to live in a little town that's off of the main road, and that hasn't been punished by detectors for decades. Even within the confines of this little town....the public areas and the more obvious yards around the outside perimeter of the town have seen much more activity from a few detectorists from out of town....one person in particular that I know of.

The yards in the interior blocks of this little burg have remained untouched apparently. The yards are smaller, the homes less prominent...but all of them are old enough to contain silver. If you have such a town near you....try getting permission to do some of the yards. You could find a situation similar to the one that appears to exist here.

I think my intuition is good......but much of it still comes down to pure, dumb luck. But that's OK...sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Thanks guys......It's really cold here and I don't know when I'll get out next. I made some great buys on eBay though today. I actually bought 9 walkers below melt value (3.11 each) ...and that included postage! I have a guy who wants to buy some....and will pay me 5 bucks apiece for them, so I'm going to sell 5 and keep 4...and I'll have 3 bucks invested in them.

I'm always lookin' for a deal. It's not the same as digging them...but the deal was too sweet to pass up. I also bought a 1907-O Barber half for 10 bucks ppd....in a strong VG...almost Fine condition. Couldn't pass that one up either.

I wanna dig though....it's killin' me ;) I know there's more here.

I don't think I'll get the chance to keep the streak alive. It's only 15 degrees here this morning....and I haven't checked out the weather for tomorrow....but it'll likely be to cold for me. It was fun while it lasted....but barring a miracle....I'll not be detecting tomorrow.
