Spent my lunch break out in the farm woods again today. This was my 2nd hunt.
No ticks or snakes yet, but I ran into so many spider webs, I came out looking like a ball of cotton candy! :o
Yesterday I scored two old buttons, and today a few more cool finds. Pictured are part of the stream and some of the woods I am working through. There is no way to grid something this large, and with so many obstacles. I try to be thorough, but a lot of the targets are just plain luck!
My finds today were:
*A large decorative piece with an Eagle at the top. I'm assuming this is from an old wood stove?

* A squished 3-ringer bullet under a large root. (I'm glad I didn't give up)

*A small oval pin with three initials in the center. Looks like "HBC" to me. ***UPDATE- It is "WBC" not "HBC" like I first thought. Not that it matters. ;D
What do you think? Any idea how old this may be?

*A neat "Apple Pie Ridge - Pure Apple Cider Vinegar" bottle.

*Old Pepsi bottle. (1960's?)

*Asst'd unknown relics.

Have a great weekend Folks.

The clock looks good with out paint.

Sorry about the comment of using it for a boat anchor instead of a hood ornament.

Can`t wait to join you on one of your Indiana Jones Adventures soon.

No problem. I've dug up MANY boat anchors too in my time. ;D
I'll stay in touch on a future hunt.

The clock looks great! I was going with the stovepipe flange guess. As Ron White says, "...but ah was wrong".

I think you should put a Sun tachometer in the hole and mount it to your dashboard.

Thank you.
I just figured out the initials are "WBC" , not "HBC". I still don't know how old it is, or who it may have belonged to though?
I thought it was a pretty neat find for the woods though.

Rebel Man is right. In the sixth pic, at the top, the piece pictured is a Civil War era belt keeper. It would have been on the same belt with an oval U.S. plate. If you are finding belt components out there in the woods, it might pay to do a very thorough search of that particular area.

Good luck!

Is the belt keeper the piece to the left of the bullet? I found it very close to the bullet.
Thanks.

That is a very cool and UNIQUE, yes I said it, find. Very cool my friend you have honed in on some nice spots over the past few months and it is good to see them pay off for you!!! ;) ;) ;)

Miner, the belt keeper is the piece in the upper left. It has the four triangular holes/prongs. Those were used on your standard military belt of the era, along with the coveted U.S. plate. The last time I found a spot with several of these, I got a great belt plate from not far away.

Get back to that spot!

I hate to tell you this, but I thought it was just a piece of junk metal, so I tossed it in the garbage. Looks like I'll be opening up my garbage bags to find it. :'(
Thank you very much for IDing it.
I found some more stuff today in the same spot, but I can't post until tomorrow.

DANG, I thought I had mentioned that too MM. I must have forgotten to in my above post but YES indeed that is/was a belt keeper...That is why I said that you "honed in on some good spots" over the past couple of months. Well, dont sweat it too much, just try to get in there and find it before the garbage is picked up.

Thanks Josh.
I got another "Treble Gilt" button, a 3-ringer, and an item that looks like a very old copper handled brush of some sort. I can see where the thick bristles were/are. I found all of these things today in that same area. I doubt I'll be this lucky, but I'm hoping it will be ID'd as CW era and possibly from a surgical medical kit like this one:

I'll post tomorrow after work.
I LOVE finding these relics out in the woods. My kind of fun.
