Hello everyone,

Been really at it here now. Got the chance over this past weekend to attend the dfxonly hunt that was held in Newark OH. I want to say Thanks To Don and Steve if you guys are out there reading this. I had a great time and thanks for the chance to hunt another nice piece of property.

A good bit of the finds came from the boy scout camp including 15 silvers out of the 23 total. That makes 58 for the yr so far. I found most of the wheats on the hunt also. It was a good time and a nice area to hunt. Came up with a ben half barber quarter and some mercs and rosies. I also got a really nice wrist bracelet. All in all a good outing.

There was a ton of clad in the area so finding older stuff was not real easy. Once you got the clad down the old deep coins started coming up. I really got the hang of the V3 now. It is a silver seeker.

When I got back home here in pittsburgh here sunday. I wanted to go out and hunt another old site. So me and my boy went to a site that goes back to the late 1700's. It's basically a old ghost town. But recently a doser came through the area and cut out a dirt rd. Well sure enough finds started turning up and I hit a beautiful 1900 O barber half in ef condition.

I have found alot of great relics and coins at this site in the past. I got 2 semi key date indians the 76 and 79. You just can't hunt a site out. I have hit places so hard and went back and pulled out half dollars. I just know that a good site is never completely tapped out. Hope you all like the finds. Been alot of hard work let me tell ya.

I'm 29 and I tell you what after 25 hrs of hunting over 4 days I was beat up. I could barely go to work these last 2 nights. I recovered but it's been alot of my free time.

Also can anyone ID the brass item that looks like a ink pen. Has a tip and even feels like a pen would. It is bent perfectly for fitting in the hand. It's a old peice I know that. Most relics from this place were 1870's. I also pulled out a really toasted flying eagle cent. Only my second or third one in 16 yrs. It was a good 10 inches under a 4 inch root. I almost gave up on it. It hit a 39 solid out of the hole.

Take care

Jer

Thanks alot guys.

Working really hard to make some good finds out there. I literally do have a small museum here at my house lol. I love history from my town. Hope to one day dedicate a room full of treasure in my house when the kids move out. That is gonna be a project and cost some money.

Hi, Those are great finds. It was great seeing you at the hunt. Thanks for sharing your spot. Got three silver dimes from there. That little area produced well. HH Catsman ( Rex )

Thanks everyone,

I am still not sure what the pointed brass item is. I didn't get that one at the scout camp. I got it from a old ghost town here in pa. Maybe it was used for knitting or something like that.

Yeah Catsman, It was cool sharing some stories and having a few laughs. No problem I should have stayed on that bluff. I got to hot and tired and needed a break. By then it was swept out when I went back. Still caught a silver dime the next day though down there. I bet there is more there to.

Wow Jer...you always continue to astound me whith your great finds...Would love to see that ghost town. Thanks for posting stuff to make us drool!

Thanks gypsy,

When I go back in the fall and it all dies out I will get some photos. No standing structures but there are like 20 old foundations all lined up. Pretty old site. Tons of broken old molded type bottles.

I know there has got to be a few nice priveys down in this area. I would love to try and locate them and dig them out. need someone with more bottle digging exp to go with. I don't have a probe.

I can just guess from the depressions behind the foundations that is where they used to throw all the trash. I bet there are some really great items in them.

Take care

Jeremy

Thanks ringfinder.

Had a tough week hunting. But things will change. You take whatever you can get. It isn't easy finding stuff around here. Lots of people hunting.

Nice finds JerV! I like that silver and that's cool you didn't give up on that signal! A flying eagle is a flying eagle so congrats! :icon_thumleft:

I'm 30, and I DEFINITELY know what you mean about hitting the dirt hard for 4 or 5 days straight 8 hours a day and

then your body feeling like it got beat with bats the next couple days ;D But its worth it in the end as this post shows :icon_thumleft:
