Hello everyone,

Been really at it here now. Got the chance over this past weekend to attend the dfxonly hunt that was held in Newark OH. I want to say Thanks To Don and Steve if you guys are out there reading this. I had a great time and thanks for the chance to hunt another nice piece of property.

A good bit of the finds came from the boy scout camp including 15 silvers out of the 23 total. That makes 58 for the yr so far. I found most of the wheats on the hunt also. It was a good time and a nice area to hunt. Came up with a ben half barber quarter and some mercs and rosies. I also got a really nice wrist bracelet. All in all a good outing.

There was a ton of clad in the area so finding older stuff was not real easy. Once you got the clad down the old deep coins started coming up. I really got the hang of the V3 now. It is a silver seeker.

When I got back home here in pittsburgh here sunday. I wanted to go out and hunt another old site. So me and my boy went to a site that goes back to the late 1700's. It's basically a old ghost town. But recently a doser came through the area and cut out a dirt rd. Well sure enough finds started turning up and I hit a beautiful 1900 O barber half in ef condition.

I have found alot of great relics and coins at this site in the past. I got 2 semi key date indians the 76 and 79. You just can't hunt a site out. I have hit places so hard and went back and pulled out half dollars. I just know that a good site is never completely tapped out. Hope you all like the finds. Been alot of hard work let me tell ya.

I'm 29 and I tell you what after 25 hrs of hunting over 4 days I was beat up. I could barely go to work these last 2 nights. I recovered but it's been alot of my free time.

Also can anyone ID the brass item that looks like a ink pen. Has a tip and even feels like a pen would. It is bent perfectly for fitting in the hand. It's a old peice I know that. Most relics from this place were 1870's. I also pulled out a really toasted flying eagle cent. Only my second or third one in 16 yrs. It was a good 10 inches under a 4 inch root. I almost gave up on it. It hit a 39 solid out of the hole.

Take care

Jer

AWESOME hunt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was a good time by all means :icon_thumleft: MR TUFF

Yes,

Thanks alot guys. I try hard to make the finds and also to preserve them the best I can. My soil is mineralized here and copper and even silver gets pretty bad. My best advice is practice makes perfect. Keep repeating things and your bound to get good at it. That goes for anything.

Treasure hunting is and can be a addiction. I have to balance chasing treasure work and a family. It's a tough job. Good luck to you guys out there.

Feller'..that's a lot of huntin...and a lot of work on those knees.

Mine would have crapped out after just a few hours ;D

Nice digs buddy :icon_thumleft:

Great presentation and finds, Jer!! :headbang:

Take care of your knees, buddy, so you can have many more years of hunting. I know it's hard to stop detecting when you keep making one great find after another. I usually don't feel anything until the next day. You're still young....wait til you get into your 40's-50's. :clock: The brain says keep going, but the body is crying out :violent1:

Congrats again!!

HH,
CAPTN SE
Dan

PS - Are you going to upgrade to the V3i? I've been hearing from more than one source that the biggest enhancement is the improved stability in mineralized ground.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I am good for about 3 hrs myself. Then I start wearing down. Most of my hunts are no more than 3 hrs. Not used to all day hunts in close to 90 degrees. I figured it's a once a yr gathering so I pushed it. Yeah 20 more yrs I won't be hunting the woods this hard.

It's funny you mention the V3I. I talked to whites yesterday and I am eligible for a free upgrade. I got lucky because you had to buy the spectra before Nov 1st 09. I got mine the end of Nov.

Still gotta pay shipping back and fourth. Might run me another 50 bucks. I just sent it to them two months ago to have it upgraded from 1.1 to 1.3. It made a great difference. Now I gotta send it back again in the prime hunting season. I think I am gonna wait till next month when I am not hunting as much. I hate not having my unit.

I can use my buddies SE or my sons idx pro till it comes back. I hope this is one of the last upgrades for awhile.

Thanks again guys

HH Jer

Great collection of stuff and I feel your pain regarding the knees. Looks like it was worth it, though. With regards to the partial "F.O.E" badge/plate... looks like it may be from the Fraternal Order of Eagles, which, among other things, was responsible for the creation of Mother's Day. Very timely find! Here's a link with more info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraternal_Order_of_Eagles

Cheers!

No problem Dan

Hope all is well for you and your wife. Thanks for looking. If it wasn't for you guys my threads on here would be dead. It tells me people really do appreciate this stuff and understand how much work it is. Lots of fun though also.

Thanks for the info Sir. It is ironic this peice turned up around mothers day. It's a funny kind of karma. I was wondering what the FOE was. I was thinking what could it be. To bad I don't have the rest of it.

Thanks again

Jer

Great assortment of finds :icon_thumleft: that half is in good shape some how that brass thing reminds me of when we did leather stitching ?? a few buddy's and me are getting to together to hunt a 100 year old Boy Scout and Girl Scout camp i used to go to when i was 7 years old, 200 acre woods with a fresh water lake right in the middle that divided the 2 camps i cant wait  Good hunt Dd60

Thanks,

Scout camps are good places to hunt. They are usually always hunted though at some point. But I found out after hunting them that if you hit the rough area's you'll come up with pockets on silver from where the used to camp out. Good luck out there.

HH Jer
