Hello everyone,

Been really at it here now. Got the chance over this past weekend to attend the dfxonly hunt that was held in Newark OH. I want to say Thanks To Don and Steve if you guys are out there reading this. I had a great time and thanks for the chance to hunt another nice piece of property.

A good bit of the finds came from the boy scout camp including 15 silvers out of the 23 total. That makes 58 for the yr so far. I found most of the wheats on the hunt also. It was a good time and a nice area to hunt. Came up with a ben half barber quarter and some mercs and rosies. I also got a really nice wrist bracelet. All in all a good outing.

There was a ton of clad in the area so finding older stuff was not real easy. Once you got the clad down the old deep coins started coming up. I really got the hang of the V3 now. It is a silver seeker.

When I got back home here in pittsburgh here sunday. I wanted to go out and hunt another old site. So me and my boy went to a site that goes back to the late 1700's. It's basically a old ghost town. But recently a doser came through the area and cut out a dirt rd. Well sure enough finds started turning up and I hit a beautiful 1900 O barber half in ef condition.

I have found alot of great relics and coins at this site in the past. I got 2 semi key date indians the 76 and 79. You just can't hunt a site out. I have hit places so hard and went back and pulled out half dollars. I just know that a good site is never completely tapped out. Hope you all like the finds. Been alot of hard work let me tell ya.

I'm 29 and I tell you what after 25 hrs of hunting over 4 days I was beat up. I could barely go to work these last 2 nights. I recovered but it's been alot of my free time.

Also can anyone ID the brass item that looks like a ink pen. Has a tip and even feels like a pen would. It is bent perfectly for fitting in the hand. It's a old peice I know that. Most relics from this place were 1870's. I also pulled out a really toasted flying eagle cent. Only my second or third one in 16 yrs. It was a good 10 inches under a 4 inch root. I almost gave up on it. It hit a 39 solid out of the hole.

Take care

Jer

WOW1 Overwhelming bunch of goodies! CONGRATS! :icon_pirat:

Holly jumping jacks.....Batman! :headbang:

Boy scout camps can be real coin bonanzas! A site like that will keep you busy for several months, maybe even a years. I've had similar results hunting the older boy scout camps here in Northern Calif.

Again, congrats! :hello2:

Congrats on a very impressive group of finds Jer ! I don't know what the ink pen thing is but it's definitely a cool find. :icon_thumright:

Incredible amount of finds! I would expect nothing less from you, always knockin' em dead! Those coins can hide, but they can't run!!!

:headbang:

Congrats on the scout camp, they can really add to the silver count

Thanks to a camp in Northern California I found a few months ago, my silver count for the year is at 62 and climbing :headbang:

HH,

Damn, that is one nice pile of finds. Love those big silvers...

Could the feather/pen thing be a letter opener?

Congrats...

What a haul, looks like the V3 really does detect metal. Good job and that much digging is enough to make me sore just looking at the post. ;D

Ok now im going to buy a v3 that settles it. nice." Im not getting dressed up for nothing ". :coffee2:Rob

Unbelievable! Looks like the V3 is treating you just as good if not better then the DFX did. :icon_thumright:

Thanks alot everyone.

Yes, I thought the same thing. Possible letter opener. It may be one. It just has a really sharp tip. The V3 is a great unit. I took alot of my dfx skills though and jumped right into the spectra. Like going from a se to etrac.

I have been really tired lately. Lots of digging plays a part on my knee's and such at the end of the day. Better get my tough hunting in while I am younge.

Boy scout camps are great places to search. Unforunately I only had 3 days to hunt the site. It was a organized group hunt.

Funny how things work though. I got back home sunday and a friend of mine tells me he has got a boy scout camp to hunt here in our neck of the woods. Hit a pocket of silver today there testing the site. I also have one more scout camp to check out.

Would like to get to 150 silvers this yr. Thanks again guys and good luck to all.
