Hello everyone,
Been really at it here now. Got the chance over this past weekend to attend the dfxonly hunt that was held in Newark OH. I want to say Thanks To Don and Steve if you guys are out there reading this. I had a great time and thanks for the chance to hunt another nice piece of property.
A good bit of the finds came from the boy scout camp including 15 silvers out of the 23 total. That makes 58 for the yr so far. I found most of the wheats on the hunt also. It was a good time and a nice area to hunt. Came up with a ben half barber quarter and some mercs and rosies. I also got a really nice wrist bracelet. All in all a good outing.
There was a ton of clad in the area so finding older stuff was not real easy. Once you got the clad down the old deep coins started coming up. I really got the hang of the V3 now. It is a silver seeker.
When I got back home here in pittsburgh here sunday. I wanted to go out and hunt another old site. So me and my boy went to a site that goes back to the late 1700's. It's basically a old ghost town. But recently a doser came through the area and cut out a dirt rd. Well sure enough finds started turning up and I hit a beautiful 1900 O barber half in ef condition.
I have found alot of great relics and coins at this site in the past. I got 2 semi key date indians the 76 and 79. You just can't hunt a site out. I have hit places so hard and went back and pulled out half dollars. I just know that a good site is never completely tapped out. Hope you all like the finds. Been alot of hard work let me tell ya.
I'm 29 and I tell you what after 25 hrs of hunting over 4 days I was beat up. I could barely go to work these last 2 nights. I recovered but it's been alot of my free time.
Also can anyone ID the brass item that looks like a ink pen. Has a tip and even feels like a pen would. It is bent perfectly for fitting in the hand. It's a old peice I know that. Most relics from this place were 1870's. I also pulled out a really toasted flying eagle cent. Only my second or third one in 16 yrs. It was a good 10 inches under a 4 inch root. I almost gave up on it. It hit a 39 solid out of the hole.
Take care
Jer
